Jae Kwon

Jae Kwon is a blockchain software architect best known as the creator of Tendermint, the Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus engine he began building in 2014, and as co-founder of Cosmos, the "Internet of Blockchains" project he launched with Ethan Buchman through their 2016 whitepaper. He served as CEO of Tendermint Inc. and president of the Interchain Foundation before stepping down in 2020, and he has since been a prominent and sometimes contrarian voice in Cosmos governance, advocating the AtomOne fork and building Gno.land, a smart contract platform based on the Go language. A Cornell computer science graduate, he earlier built Yelp's first iPhone app as its lead mobile developer.
