25 Jan 2024 · 7:20
In this ZK Hack IV announcement, Kobi Gurkan of Geometry Research introduces Supervillain, the second puzzle in the event's four-week zero-knowledge puzzle-solving competition. Alongside weekly workshops on core ZK concepts and tools, the puzzle challenges participants to find bugs in a cryptographic protocol, with prizes provided by partners including RISC Zero, Polygon Labs, and ZKValidator.

we are back with the puzzle announcement um I don't know if there's folks who've just stuck around also because they are about to hack this puzzle the way it's going to work is we're going to talk a little bit about it we're going to yeah tell you what to expect and then we're going to be kind of re like basically keep your eye on the website and sort of refresh because it that that's where it pops up we're also going to share it in the Discord chat all right so let's see if anyone wants to join I don't know if we're just bringing up someone maybe let me just make sure that this is happening I'm waiting for my second
person to join us so just yeah exactly new animal can't wait I hope hope we can get through ah I got just a second okay wow the the excitement is is large okay so I'll just switch the screen to puzzle is there anyone here in the chat who actually hacked this week this past one if so say plus one or something I don't know if you already saw but we just published I mean earlier in this session but the leaderboard is now live so you can actually see where you ranked how you ranked if you ranked so do check
it out um it's on the site actually maybe we can just find it um and we're just waiting for Kobe to arrive yes perfect okay I think we've put that website up um all right I feel like we're getting close to the moment when it's supposed to launch so I hope I hope you can make it over ah okay I think he's trying to join in now H I'm not seeing so Kobe if you're hearing it we don't see you yet
in the you're not popping up yet yeah you were there before and now we don't see you so hopefully okay try again uh do you need Kobe how much time do you need because I don't know if you can just give me a a time frame sorry I'm speaking to a chat I don't know if you can tell it's a very shy Kobe is a shy animal thanks for uh sitting through this folks okay okay I think we see hello hello are we just video today no we lost
him we lost him lost him oh no oh no I think we were trying a lot of I feel like it's becoming more of a meme as time goes on um I wonder okay I think we're g to try one more time oh okay can we hear you yes okay hi so we don't have an animal this time yes today the animals are very tired so they won't be able to join okay but I promise there will be a very friendly animal next week all right
maybe two we'll oh okay cool very good okay we should move to our big announcement big presentation okay I'm going to move to the name we're going to basically announce puzzle F2 now take it away yes all right so puzzle F2 so I hope that you all enjoyed puzzle F1 uh we we had lots of fun writing it and seeing how how people stumbled upon the things that we wanted them to stumble on um and the last puzzle was about snarks as you've seen but this one is about more General cryptography and something that is is kind of widely widely applicable so puzzle F2 is called super
villm because it's about Rogues and you will see what it means when you try the puzzle but concretely it's about BLS multi signatures which is one of my favorite protocols um and you know there are very different ways to implement BLS multi signatures and there are many papers from the last years because it has become a common Topic in in trying to optimize signatures when you have big sets of validators or signers and consequently there are different ways to protect your protocol
when you use BLS multi signatures and one of the ways to protect your protocol against the topic called row key attacks is called proofs of knowledge and that's what's been try to be done here and it as we've seen last time it was not done correctly and basically the proofs are not the right proofs to make so this is your task this time you need to forge a signature that should not be forged and yeah good luck and you know the timeline is as usual
you have a week to do it up until 12:00 p.m. next Tuesday solve it you'll be added to the leaderboard and if you want to do a write up and the best write up will will win a prize as well so have fun have fun um folks are asking if they can see it so we're just deploying it right now so you should be just keep an eye on that site um it's on Gaylord says okay so I think we're live I think the puzzle has started you can now start the hacking um I'll just finish off our session kind of conclusion here which is just that there is the polygon Labs Workshop next week and we're gon to add the link to that if
we can find it you should already sign up for it just so you have it um and I know that we're going to be talking a lot more about that during the week so you'll hear lots of announcements about their workshop but yeah Kobe thanks for making it I'm so glad you did it we got it out yes very cool okay um yeah always head over to the Discord uh check out the website follow us on Twitter etc etc
