all right i'm gonna quickly share my screen uh i want to share with you this is basically the intro to zk hack number three um i'm so glad that you all came out and it's so awesome to have you here once again in this session what we're going to be doing is basically uh announcing all of the like winners of puzzle 2 we're going to be hearing about cairo and starknet with starkware and that's the bulk of this talk of this event and then we're also going to announce and kind of release puzzle 3 into the wild at the very end so zk hack if you're not yet familiar by the general validator and the podcast
so if you don't already know the zk podcast please check it out i think we're going to be adding a few links in the in the one of the chats by the way there's two chats there's like an event chat and a sessions chat most chat for this should actually be happening in sessions just fyi so yeah check out the podcast if you don't already know it also the validator this is actually active on eight networks right now if you have those tokens and want to support these kinds of efforts you can stake to us there so yeah what is zk hack i mean zk hack is this seven week event series and puzzle competition and every week we bring you a new workshop which looks at the like emerging zk tools in the space and we also release a puzzle
the puzzles are very i love this i wanna i don't know i want to find ways to like share as much of this as we can i know that for the last pub we have now at like a number of different kinds of explanations and ways that people solved it so if you are participating and you want to potentially you know share an explanation with us please do i think it's really interesting to see all the different ways that people approach these puzzles cool so our goal here is to learn about zero knowledge cryptography we hope to actually onboard more people into the zk
space and potentially generate new ideas and new collaborations if you want to follow all of this be sure to check out the discord that's the hub of this event over seven weeks you can also follow on twitter and there's the website that's where you can find the solutions well actually that's where you can find the puzzles and the solutions as well as our schedule and kind of keep up to date and a lot of people last time asked us during the event about videos so the videos do come out they it takes us about a day but if you want to be notified right away just head over to the zero knowledge youtube channel and there you can actually subscribe and be notified right off the bat
oh i'm hearing there's a bit of audio it's okay it seems like maybe one person had a tough time oh yeah just one thing if you're using hop in for the first time you may want to use chrome it tends to work a little bit better all right this is the team that's putting on zk hacks myself kobe susanna and tanya so thank you to the team you'll actually be potentially like hearing from some of them or seeing them in the chat i also want to say a big thank you to our puzzle building partners anoma and alio so there are six puzzles for the zk hack and this these were built and put together by those two teams you can see them alternating so one week will be an enoma built puzzle and another will be elio so thank you guys so much for being
partners with us we also have our gold sponsors ident three aztec starcraft meena these six teams the partners and the gold sponsors are the hosts of the workshop like during the zk hack we have a great batch of silver sponsors figment cadet horizon osmosis geometry cello and polychain as well as bronze sponsors lambda alex zero penumbra manta panther and vac last time i said status but it was actually this part that's that's the sponsor um yeah and we have media partners zk proof and zero knowledge soul so visit a workshop hack a puzzle win a prize and hopefully meet your
collaborators so i'd love to invite kobe to the stage to share with us a little bit about this last puzzle hello hi and i never know what i'm who i'm going to see on the other end hi kobe hello this is my normal farm you're seeing natural form okay uh cool so yeah let's talk about puzzle two um puzzle was really really fun to see people solving it and basically the idea was that it's called group dynamics and it was a play about the fact that if you are working with it with
elliptical groups and you're not careful and you're not working with the prime order subgroups as you should then you're going to be in a lot of problems and you might be clicking your private keys or your secrets and that's what the puzzle was about it was about a growth 16 setup which involves different points from both g1 group and the g2 group where if you try to look at it you will see that you get points that are not in the primary subgroup and this can be exploited in order to extract the secrets out of this setup
and as a consequence this completely breaks the whole security of the setup because then you are able to create fake proofs like proofs about statements that are incorrect and that's what people were tasked to do and we will admit that there was a simplification in order for the puzzle to be practical and not require a super computer a super computer that does exist but super computer that not all of us have and so we simplified it so that people can work with it and seems like people managed to extract the secret a lot of them did we had about
15 to 20 like we had about 18 good submissions of people that successfully extracted the secret in many different ways and that was interesting to see some ways are more efficient some ways are implementing everything from scratch and in some some ways used existing tools and polling element algorithms that are implemented in state and things of that sort so that was very interesting to see and we also got a few good write-ups about what's the problem and how to to tackle it how to do it from scratch go step by step and extract the secret and i would encourage everyone to try to
learn from the write-up if you haven't had a chance to look at the puzzle and yes we also like last week we had to choose the best one it was a hard choice as usual because people are really putting their heart into it and writing really well and but we didn't have to choose one and i think one one thing that occurred to us when we were choosing the write-ups um was that there are different kinds of write-ups some focus more in theory and some focus more on the practical matters and for example this one we chose one that
looked at the bits and bytes of the things and even though it wasn't the most efficient way to solve it it showed you step by step what are the things that you can exploit in order to solve it so that's uh that's something to keep in mind like there are two kinds of write-ups and you can choose what you're you're trying to achieve um yeah and susanna will announce the great winners well actually before susannah comes up to announce the winners oh is my audio okay yes i'm hearing them it's okay um before susannah comes up i'm actually going to invite holly to the stage but before i do that i just want to make one
point because i think i spoke to a few people about this even if you haven't participated in previous puzzles don't let that stop you try like maybe try all the puzzles because if you submit a puzzle something we actually didn't mention so clearly in the last two sessions we have at the very end of these seven weeks we're going to have a leaderboard with all the people who submitted and there are some very cool weird unusual prizes that we're going to be giving to like a lot like basically anyone who participated like in doing the puzzle even if you you know only did one and weren't the first one to submit it i still think it's worth it so yes please do check it
out um and and check out our leaderboard actually there's like there you can kind of how we're kind of points how many people have participated yeah so if you want to be up there please do submit that's a really good point you should you should think about being part of the leaderboard even if you're not one of the three uh it's worth being there i would encourage it all right now i'd love to invite holly to the stage i'm this is holly from figment this is the company that has sponsored this week's this week's puzzles prizes so holly is going to say a few words
hello hello i just wanted to say i really do love the alien vibe there and i'm kind of missing my personal uh different background but very happy to be here my name is holly i'm the developer marketing lead for figment for any of you who are not familiar with figment we started a few years back in infrastructure space kind of helping people get involved with staking tokens and you know really giving into the mission of building a better internet so that users actually have ownership and since then i get to work on the really fun stuff uh the developer side and partnering with zk hacks i have to say i'm a little disappointed
i only started a pigment three months ago so i wasn't involved early enough to pick a puzzle but i'm here and i'm excited to be able to award a prize today what figment does on the developer side is we really provide you a way to enter web3 we've got two main areas that pigment learn which provides you one-on-one for for example you mentioned cello was the sponsor last week we have a pathway for cello avalanche and and many more and then data hub is going to actually be your command center to take that knowledge and launch it to the next level so really excited to be here i think that what you guys are doing in the space is really what web 3 is about right it's
collaborating solving puzzles and trying to build a better tomorrow together so really excited to be involved and look forward to congratulating the winners in learning about puzzle three very cool thanks so much holly so now i'm hoping susanna could join the stage to help us give out the prizes bettina just asked if the puzzle solution number two will be published and yes it will be published very shortly now i wonder if susanna can come on i'm just gonna give her a moment oh yes hey hey
i didn't i didn't like pre-prepare this time so that i didn't just appear on stage um but yeah as last week um we have a similar format so first prize gets 2500 usdc second one thousand third thousand again and the best writer 500 so this week's winners the best write-up goes to neos ledger um so yeah as kobe mentioned this one was a bit more of a practical one so soon i'll push the changes and you'll be able to see the solution and i'll link it in the chat here and stuff um but so it's a little bit different last week it's um
we've basically just embedded the the the gist that you submitted and so it's quite nice because you could probably just copy and paste the code and play around with it yourself if you're interested um so third place is tom marvel riddles this is their team submission um so yeah third fastest time second is oh remarta 888 and in first place this week is the same as last week so um yeah well done william you really you've done it again very good anybody know maybe it's gonna
be a triple or who knows but hopefully maybe someone knocks you off your top spot but yeah congratulations everyone yay congrats everyone we're really all that i love what you're building here it feels like ready player one with this uh leaderboard exactly nice all right thanks to both of you i have just a little bit left before we launch into the uh starcraft session uh let me just yes so i have just one last something new we just added to the program over these seven weeks it's awesome that we get to use hop in and we get to like do these workshops
but we wanted to find a way for us to potentially meet in person but not really virtually um so we will be doing a zk jobs fair and a zk hack virtual party on december 2nd so that's basically the thursday before the last session that we actually announced all the winners and the leaderboard but we already have the link ready so if you want to join now just to be reminded about that in time and we're going to be doing this as we always do the job fair we're going to be doing it on gather.town which is like this virtual space where you get to like have a little avatar and walk up to people and chat and we're hoping to also potentially like create little areas where we can talk about some of the
different puzzles so yeah if you haven't yet i mean actually we're announcing it right now so you haven't signed up for it but if you want to join and want to be reminded head over to the link that i think has just been shared perfect cool okay
