foreign [Music] it's a good time to kick off ZK hack three session three okay so um yes you're here at ZK hack as you may know this is a multi-week event so we are doing two sessions every week and now we're kind of right in the middle so we're in week two um yeah so what what can you do at ZK hack well you can join a workshop like the one we're at today you could hack a puzzle and we're going to be telling you a little bit about the puzzles shortly and if you do do that you could
potentially win a prize so if you're curious about ZK hack you can always find out more on our website zkhack.dev here you can find previous events or previous puzzles ZK mesh newsletter all sorts of other resources the ZK whiteboard sessions which is like a learning like a video series we created this summer which I really recommend if you're just getting into the space for this event we have the ZK hack 3 website and here you can find the schedule you can see previous workshops and the videos from that you can also see the puzzles you can see the leaderboard shortly I think this is going to be published really soon or
maybe it's already live yeah so be sure to have this handy you should also be in our Discord and potentially following us on Twitter um yeah so like the Discord is where we're at when we're not sure like in the events themselves also if you're doing the puzzles this is a really good place to uh keep track of it if you have questions if you actually have follow-up questions to the workshops that's also a good place to be all right um so the media partner for this is the zero knowledge podcast that's the other thing that I do it's a weekly show if you're not familiar with it do check it
out and everyone always asks yes this is recorded and yes we will be posting it as soon as we can we try to get it like the next day if you want to see it first head over to the um zero knowledge podcast YouTube channel And subscribe because that's where we're publishing them we have a playlist specifically for ZK hack and actually if you do if you go over there you'll also see previous videos and stuff like that so um yeah like you'll see basically all of the other sessions from the previous CK hacks here's where we are in the schedule for ZK hack3 last week we did the introductory session and workshops from sismo and scroll today we're going to be sharing
the like winner announcement who won puzzle the the puzzle one T1 competition and then we're going to be hearing from anoma we're going to be talking about the evolution of the masp circuits in Nevada after this we're going to be launching puzzle T2 so the second puzzle of ZK hacks starts tonight at the end of that session and yeah next week we have or actually next session in two days we have Aztec and job fair so I'd love to invite Kobe to the stage to tell us a little bit about how puzzle one went all right I invited let's hopefully this
works let's see hello yes ah he is a moon very nice scary that's what the title says I don't know what is it I think it may be Mercury I'm not sure though okay very nice so Kobe tell us a little bit about puzzle T1 what it was like to build because this is actually built by geometry um and also yeah how did it go how did people solve it were there some were there some people who went the wrong direction and then found their way tell us all about it yeah definitely and we also have Andrea that can come up and
tell you a bit more and but meanwhile uh okay so the puzzle first of all the idea was around the subject protocol as we we all got to know recently as a very important piece in the key piece it's very common now to use it in the newer proving systems and others and also in previous ones like Marlin um but what we did here is the zero knowledge variant of the subject protocol but with a bug with the wrong design and many people correctly know this that what happened in this protocol is that the way that you mask the polynomial of
which you prove the sum and you mask it in a way such that it can cancel out the sum of the original polynomial which is which was the problem and many people figured it out but we did see a lot of different variants we got 20 for submissions overall Solutions and a bunch of write-ups very good write-ups and but yeah we we can describe a bit about the different kind of solutions that we've seen if Andrea wants to come up yeah Andrea I think you were jumping up there you are perfect
there you go okay uh I oh you were kicking me out uh how this works since it's my first time sorry about it uh yeah so I wanna say that I'm really proud of the puzzle I think it went very well and I hope that uh you guys had the chance to learn um some new things and as Kobe said some track protocol is very important and this puzzle um as we expected had like two main Solutions and one uh solution was like to have and the people who were solving will know what
I'm talking about to have G and date um like zero polynomials and there was another solution which like a bit more complex when you have like masking polynomials sampled random and uh and you know what I'm talking about and we were hoping that people can distinguish between these two and in the manner of these abstract protocol since you want to like double spend and since you want to like keep double spending if you are allowed to um you would like to have something that people will not figure out that you're
doing some spooky things so we were hoping to actually see both Solutions and to make distinguished uh distinction when you have G and H to be zero somebody in the network will probably figure out that something uh is going wrong if if uh if he can see that a lot of polynomials are just zero polynomials and you have this one random uh looking solution which will not allow anybody to figure out what's happening so I think you will if you don't know what I'm concretely speaking about you'll see we we have a write-up uh like the internal geometry write up and uh
the write-up that we will publish that will explain in more depth what's happening here and yeah I think it was very nice workshop and it was very nice experience for me to like come up with the puzzle um and yeah I I hope everybody enjoyed thank you too cool yeah awesome all right um okay so next up we're going to actually announce the winners so this is what we always use this first session after a puzzle ends to do is to share you know who who won who came in first as you know this is like there is
there's a speed component to these puzzles you have to solve correctly but you also have to solve quickly so um yeah oh oh wait oh sorry Mel Scott ahead of me there I will go back to where we're supposed to be okay so as we mentioned in the first session there are prizes associated with each of these each of the top three and the write-up so here what we have uh first place gets 2000 usdc second place gets 1000 usdc third place gets 500 but there's also this best write-up prize so this is for anyone who's thinking of doing puzzle two Um this can be submitted anytime during the competition
and yeah we choose this at the end and so yeah I'm going to share a little bit or actually Kobe if you want to share a little bit about who won so we're going to go from the third upwards yeah that's it coming in in third place drum roll that's constant from metal Labs uh we know him from before from previous congrats congrats on coming in third okay and now in second place drum roll that's near us from Ledger and yeah congrats you did it really fast as well you didn't come in first so in first
place for for puzzle T1 this time around we had the amazing William congratulations congratulations you you solved it really really fast good job all right and I wanna I think we also have the puzzle write up or solution write-up winner and that person is or team that's the mere I would assume and yeah I would give just a background on why this write-up was chosen and I think this write-up stood out in both the level of detail that was given but also
on addressing the few possible solutions that Andrea mentioned and mentioning why the the first solution is not going to be hiding enough and so on so it's a really educational write-up and I recommend everyone to read it but definitely also recommend to read the other write-ups that we will put all of them on the website cool cool all right um we should be very shortly also publishing the full leaderboard so if you competed there are like you will be able to see your ranking in more detail we just highlighted the top three for the presentation but yeah over on the website I don't know Kobe is it going to be live we will do it in conjunction with publishing puzzle too at the end
okay so at the end of this session you're going to be able to check out the leaderboard very nice [Music]
