how you doing kai pretty darn good it's nice that it's a friday i have some friends uh well actually i'm in colombia at medellin that's where i'm coming at you live from right now i've been here for a couple weeks and uh what a beautiful city but i have some friends visiting so we're gonna go out for some dinner later and i'm excited for that uh i am also an entrepreneur uh and i wanna say also a creator but uh and a marketer a little bit of everything uh today and what am i grateful for um i'm grateful to be in medellin it is a beautiful city the weather is incredible and i got a nice croissant today with some with some chocolate in it and damn that was good for breakfast that's that's beautiful everybody remember

practice gratitude on the daily turn your expectations into appreciation and you will make your life happier every moment of every day all right let's jump into the news of the week but before we do kai what's your web three word of the week well what is what is the web through word of the week can you explain that first that's good listeners and to me since you're gonna throw me on the spot since i'm throwing it at you for the first time uh this is how we do things you know we just uh we just go at it uh the web three word of the week is the word to describe how you're feeling about the world of web3 uh what you're most excited about web3 is all about

opportunity uh it's all about a new paradigm a new economy and i feel like i'm stealing i'm saying my web three words of the week right now uh but but kai you're you're you're uh you're i'm giving you the shot on this one this week so what's what are you feeling good about for web3 uh excitement and the reason that i say excitement not just because of all the news we're going to share that's really good for web3 but because the web3 academy is launching this week and that's going to be huge for the web 3 world so i'm absolutely pumped and web 3 excites me every day so i might choose that word quite often

i'll push you to try new words but uh excitement is uh it's never it's never going to end though this journey is uh oh boy full of energy uh but let's let's jump into it what's what's our roll up for this week what you got for us guy yeah so roll up by the way is uh basically we just compile all the important news uh in the web3 world that we find throughout the week that's usually shared and community driven inside the discord and we pick the best ones and we're gonna um basically just walk through them and um and roll them up and this way you don't need to be on twitter all day uh throughout the week you can focus on your business um and we're gonna give you uh the important news in regards to web3 and business and marketing so the

things that matter to you and your business whether you're building in here you're creating etc um so that's our goal and that's that's the the purpose of of uh of the roll-up so uh let's get started here um and for those of you that are watching on or sorry listening on the podcast what we have is our screen up and we just have all the different articles or mainly tweets um because that's where i live and uh and we're just kind of walking through and sharing them but we'll try to describe them to you as well um so the first one here and i think this is some of the biggest news we've had in web 3 in a little while and i'm it's really exciting so um andrew yang announced a few days ago so andrew yang is a um he started the forward party i believe

he was a president-elect i don't know if he still is i honestly am not up on u.s politics all that much i'm canadian um but he's got a book and he's basically trying to change how politics function um he's a young kind of forward-thinking technology guy entrepreneur um got 1.8 million flowers on twitter and he announced yesterday that they are launching a dow in the web 3 world and basically um this this dao is called uh lobby three and i'll talk more about the down just a second but here's what he wrote i think this is really really interesting so andrew yang writes my goal is simple eradicate poverty 3 technologies represent the biggest anti-poverty

opportunity of our time millions of lives are being transformed and creators empowered by new ways to exchange and generate value on the blockchain it's bottom up not top down super super super cool and what he says is there's a clear need for the web3 community to have a voice making the case on capitol hill for the positive potential of these technologies and so that's basically what he's trying to do is there's a lot of fun and issues going on in regulation right now biden actually just announced that next week they're going to be putting out some we don't know what yet but they're putting out something on regulation um and andrew yang wants to make sure that um we have a voice we have a voice at parliament at capitol hill um and we make sure that regulation is um is positive for the web 3 world

because he believes that it's an anti-poverty technology and i absolutely love that um we hear anti-censorship we hear um we hear auntie uh what's the other one anti-corruption and now we have anti-poverty and i think those are really really cool things that web 3 does so yeah they're launching the lobby dao or lobby 3 and basically it's a discord community they've got like nfts that you can mint um and all the funds are gonna go towards um towards um politics and making sure that we're lobbying to the right people and getting regulations done in the right way super super cool i think it's super exciting to see the move of web3 into government uh

obviously web3 the biggest thing that web 3 really allows is human coordination on a scale that has not been possible before uh and governance is you know a massive part of human coordination that has struggled for years uh so really exciting move to see and i think 2022 is probably going to be the year of regulation it's when we're going to really figure out what the hell is going on a lot of countries are already doing it and it's been pretty good in a lot of countries except for china but we'll see what the us decides that's going to be a big a big mover now to be clear i don't think it matters it definitely puts a dampening on things if they have bad regulation but it will move right it's a global system and web

3 will just go to a new country and that'll be the home of web3 where all the builders and companies and stuff go to and that's fine too um but we hope that the u.s is is going to be a big supporter of this we'll see and i think there's a little bit of a a call to uh i don't want to say call to arms but a call to action in there uh now's the time to join the movement um new technology brings a lot of fear uh new systems um they bring a lot of fear because people have a lot of doubt and they're uncertain uh about the understanding of it particularly um the older generation so you know call your parents uh call your aunts and uncles uh get on the

phone with somebody maybe who doesn't know web3 i'd encourage you all maybe this weekend see if you can spread a little bit of that web 3 love and that web 3 understanding to somebody who maybe doesn't understand it it'll also help you understand it better uh by forcing you to explain it to somebody uh somebody new but we really we really need to all get behind that right now so that this is a positive movement not a movement built in fear and if if you need a resource to share just share them our podcast because their first podcast explained what web3 is there you go yeah that's a plug all right so moving on i mean we're talking about regulation but now we were talking about we were on the biggest web 3 was really on the biggest um screens and uh in front of

the most people you can get and and i'm talking about the super bowl um so on sunday we had the super bowl and there was i think five crypto specific commercials uh it really put crypto on the map um and and it was super cool there were some really good ones but some of the results now that have came out um coinbase ftx crypto.com and a few others and um so some of the apps their downloads spiked by 280 following the super bowl ads i think coinbase went from like 200 and something most downloaded at the time to like number two in like minutes it was insane how fast it happened um and so yeah i think it was a great um just a great event for crypto people are calling it the crypto bowl rather than

the super bowl uh there was even commercials that were like showing like board yacht clubs and nft stuff and there was like some mentions of going to the moon and dogecoin whatever so like yeah there's a bunch of memes in there but hey great for crypto and i think we need more of this i'm sure it will continue to happen 100 let's get let's get it out to the masses let's get everyone involved right green pill what's this jay tell me a little bit about this yeah green pill is really an exciting podcast because it focuses on uh regenerative crypto economics and um public goods you know doing good in the world um i really like this theme of regenerative crypto economics you know there's a lot of talk in

the crypto space in the web 3 space about d gens and what it means to be a d gen and that attitude well what's the opposite of that well the opposite is regen and how can we you know this fits it's funny andrew yang i'm sure is going to be a future guest on green pill um this is all about how do we use web3 for good um and so the first episode just came out uh this week featuring vitalik buterin talking all about quadratic funding which is a fascinating topic uh that dives into how how can we fund more public goods we're at a a serious inflection point in our humanity around

major human coordination failures failures around climate change failures around poverty failures around serving the public need over the personal and the independent and the business need and green pill is all about a shout out to the matrix you know take the green pill take the pill that believes in the better world for the long term uh not the pill that is trying to make you better now uh and so love the philosophy gonna be a lot of exciting stuff check it out super cool and this comes at you from the bankless team who has an incredible podcast if you don't already listen to bankless uh listen to bankless because they are probably who i listen to the most in this space uh we've been working with

vegas for a long time ryan and david are absolute legends and they just they really get the ethos of the values of crypto and web3 and they're just trying to preach it and there's no there's no scammy stuff they're just like they want people to know like what this stuff really does and what's possible um so yeah definitely check out bangladesh and speaking of bank lists uh we have they are the ones that share this this breaking news uh but what we have here is uh youtube announcing that um they are exploring ways to integrate nfts so it looks like they're going to allow i believe their videos the creators to actually make their videos as nfts um now they're not anywhere close to doing this as far as i know this was just

their i believe ceo who announced this and honestly there is like a tailwind of companies announcing this um of you know integrating nfts into their business uh you know there's just so many companies doing this at the moment big web 2 companies so i think this is going to be the trend moving forward we're going to see this probably on a weekly basis so i would expect to hear this um to hear this frequently um and speaking of youtube i just have one more to to go through here is youtube just lost two of their executives to web three which i think is very interesting this is the other trend i think we're going to be seeing a lot is big people in web 2 in the tech world of silicon valley world moving over to web 3 whether that's starting their own business or moving to you know big

protocols or companies in this world and and youtube loses so if i go down here um so it's two one of them is what's his name here i think it's ryan watt yeah he was their head of gaming at youtube which is pretty big youtube has a massive gaming department and he left to go to polygon polygon series which polygon is a side chain to ethereum um and they look to be uh um the big block chain for gaming i think it's like 80 percent of all games being built on blockchain right now are being built on polygon and so he's going over there um and to be the ceo of polygon so that's um really really interesting the other person i'm actually sure who it is um

looks like it's their creative partnerships jamie jamie bryan brynn i don't know uh but he's going to bright moments which is an nft platform um so we can just see the big wigs of web 2 are all uh piling over to web 3 and i absolutely love to see it yeah it's the uh it's the great migration of human capital that's happening as a result of uh the opportunities that are presented by web three i mean the the line that i think uh chris dixon said first was uh everybody's quitting their nine-to-five job to go work 24 7 in web 3.

yeah that's exactly it isn't it i love that and you know what this is what we need right we need we've had some good funding in crypto and especially over the last year we've had like incredible funding and i mean people have made tons of money in crypto and so they have put that back in so the money's been there and now we're getting the human capital the big brains coming in and i think that's just going to be huge for um huge for web3 so this is an interesting conversation uh that actually i had with um somewhat with uh lynne alden so lynn aldon is like a macro um a macro analyst uh she's pretty big on twitter i think she's got hundreds of thousands i don't know what it is let's see you can see here yeah 365 000. um

she's known by a lot of the big the big macro people and investors in the space um but she's known as a bitcoiner and she loves bitcoin because it's decentralized and it's you know it is what it is now there's not they're not really improving bitcoin all that much she's not a fan so much of all the other stuff and a lot of bitcoiners believe this i think the rest is just right they call it coins um now she's more open from um from what i've seen but still not really anyway she asked and tweeted out you know give me your best case for web3 and how it is structurally different than web one and two and so i commented and gave a quick three tweet explanation it was the number one likes on this and i want to share it because i think it really

summarizes it really quick um but then she had a response and kind of pissed me off so i just want to talk about that a little bit as well so what i said was web3 allows for a few foundational changes the internet digital ownership which doesn't exist in web 2 and interoperability of you and your digital goods which means you know your wallet is your one account profile for the internet moves in and out of applications along with what's inside of it um and where is the next part here this means no more hundreds of accounts and passwords no friction to move from one platform to another it creates an internet experience more like the real world i.e if we buy a shirt is what i meant to say but it looks like i said in a store we don't have to leave it in

the store when we leave right that's the web 2 style so tokens like fungible non-fungible act as business tools for funding capital distribution governance access ip whatever but it's 100x better than the traditional world because they can be created with zero intermediaries in seconds and be available on global liquid markets immediately it's a game changing thing for the world a lot of other people's stuff for like i don't know it's decentralized blah blah whatever so it is those things too um but i think it's more the use case of it all is what i i look at not like the ability to just speculate on tokens um so she agrees and she thinks that's really cool but her response was short web 3 and go long web 4. so basically what she's saying here is that you know

all the right statements are in web 3 so she likes what web3 is doing right keeping your own data being unsensible the interoperability et cetera but her complaint is that right now it's vc controlled because there's a lot of vc funding and it's pseudo web 2 platforms meaning um they're not fully decentralized yet whether that be the applications um or the some of the blockchains that are on it now that's up for debate uh ethereum in my opinion is very decentralized and only getting more and more as we go um some of the other ones i do agree with um but like here's my problem with this short web 3 go along web 4. what she means is like eventually it will figure it out and then she's long you know web four she's calling it but here's the thing we don't

get to web four without web three we need the thousands of developers and all the money in investment right now and the supporters to actually make people build this experiment make the mistakes and then as a result the good stuff will come and web 4 i don't think it'll be called that but that's what she's using and then yes it will be great and it will do all the things we want it to do so yes web3 is not perfect right now but you can't just say uh screw it it's like and she actually like and not just her but others like jack from twitter like they actually publicly shame it and it's like well you believe in all these things you want all the things that web 3 is talking about but you won't support it until it gets fully there it's just a bit insane in my mind and

just if anything it slows down the development in the funding and and it makes it harder for the thing they want to happen to actually occur um so i tweeted her back and you know we i think we had a bit of a battle but uh yeah i just wanted to point it out it's like look i know web3 is not fully there it is clunky it is not fully decentralized uh is not fully interoperable um the we don't know good tokenomic structures yet in some cases we do but not really but like look we gotta we gotta play around with it we gotta learn we gotta experiment we gotta build and to do that we need developers we need funding we need support um so uh hopefully she'll change her tune and so will some others and uh and we'll just continue to support web3

i i think as well like um the word that comes up to me is the word revolution so we're in a phase of a a revolution that's what that's what web 2 to web 3 is right it's a movement away from the status quo away from one way of doing things decentralization is one of the things we're moving away from and she's pointing out that like yeah when you have a revolution obviously the incumbents are gonna fight back against certain parts of that right but what i don't like about her view is she's encouraging people not to get involved in the revolution right right and that's not what we need right now we need everyone to get involved because nobody

knows where this is going so don't i don't care who says they know nobody knows you know the smartest person in the world doesn't know so let's evolve and let's be supportive of that optimistic outlook of evolving in a positive way right because anything is possible right and we know that regulation's coming down right now we need the people we need the voters to be supporting this and so by going out here and she loves what this is going to be but trashing it now like that's just it's insane if you want this to happen support it and like get others to support it you have a big following like let's get everyone wrapped around this so that we can go and and fight the regulation and and make this technology a thing the internet went through this too right when the internet first came out the the

incumbents tried to uh regulate it and block it completely right and had to go to court and figure it all out and eventually we won obviously um though there's definitely some things in the internet that we don't quite love and that's part of what web 3 is trying to fix but yeah it just bugs me to see people who like the idea but just still don't support it i don't get it just don't get it um eat denver eat denver is uh is this weekend um and eat denver is an ethereum conference in denver obviously it's nice a few things one it's nice to see conferences back um i've never been to east denver but i know some people that are there right now and uh i guess there's like 15 000 tickets were sold for east denver which is pretty huge um

and um yeah it's nice that that conferences are back this is a time where like everyone gets to come together and just like get on the same page and you know we we are always in discords and on twitter and that's how we all meet and and speak to each other and communicate it's nice to be able to do it in real life um so great to see that conferences are back i'm actually going to uh permissionless conference in may uh in uh west palm in florida uh and uh that one is put on by block works and and actually partnered with bankless um so if anyone else is looking for conferences um see in florida the in-person meetups are back isn't that super exciting it is very exciting

i mean so amazing i've been traveling throughout all of kobe so i've always had the in-person meetups i just go to places where they're still allowed [Laughter] that's not new to me uh okay jp morgan stakes acclaim in the metaverse with decentraland lounge this is a bit cringe i feel like um you know jp morgan is like the opposite of what web 3 is you know they're the ones that you know just are going to be disrupted probably the most out of this um and you know they put a lot of fud in the in the news about you know bitcoin and crypto whatever um but uh but now they're i don't know they say things in the news and then they all of a sudden do the opposite in real life so who knows what

the hell they're doing but um yeah they've built uh they built like a lounge inside the central land and so one of the bigger companies in the world is is entering the metaverse super cool and and this is the exact fear that uh lin was sharing right you know she's afraid of stuff like this and we all are we're all afraid of this this century central organizations continuing to to own but at the same time the fact that they're getting in it's a huge indicator it's it's obviously showing you know here we are jp morgan just put a state to claim in the metaverse probably nothing come on and i mean the the the announcements

we've had over last month of people entering the metaverse i think it was mcdonald's filed a a a patent or something 10 to the metaverse walmart um again all cringe but like cool great for the great for the metaverse maybe eventually we'll see i don't know what mcdonald's is going to do in the metaverse but we'll see uh here's a weird one that i came across the new york stock exchange wants to be a marketplace for nfts just like they are with stocks um you'd think they'd start with like crypto first uh right like with tokens because it's very much similar to stocks um but going straight to nfts uh who knows i guess that's cool uh but very interesting i never would have

thought that that was gonna become a thing um so just interesting any thoughts on that i don't know i don't know what to say about that one like let's see i mean yeah see you guys alright so last one we have for you here uh and this one uh just came out and it's exclusive that universal music um is developing collectible nfts in a deal with curio platforms so music nfts is um it's still very very small it's kind of new it started to gain popularity at the end of 2021 um but a lot of people are predicting this is like the big thing of 2022 um and so it's going to be very very interesting that the music industry is about to get disrupted again um but yeah cool to see

some of the the bigger studios already diving in and getting into this so far it's been a lot of mainly just artists and a lot of underground artists um although there are some bigger ones like nas and snoop dogg um uh that are kind of getting into this world too um yeah i mean this just shows it's diverse web 3 is literally going to disrupt every single industry at some point and and i think you know what's so exciting here is all this news is about big businesses right you know because unfortunately jp morgan has the pr budget uh to get on a major news outlet and mr joe entrepreneur who we would love to

highlight so if there's anybody out there that's an entrepreneur or an artist that's launching a project we want to highlight you on web3's academies on our podcast on our weekly rollup because here's the thing web3 is for everybody it is a tool to build community to enhance your governance of your organization whether it be a for-profit or non-profit it's a tool to raise capital it's a tool to increase engagement with your consumers to give them value in a way that you never have before the line i heard the other day was that if your community cannot provide a

way of living to your community members that's the problem we're in right now if you can't provide a way of living then they're gonna go find another way to make money and they're gonna make decisions that aren't best for community well with web3 we can provide a way of living to our community members with a community of a thousand people that's all we need so don't get confused by this what i'm trying to say is if you're out there and you're an entrepreneur you're an artist and you're like oh man these are big brands i i don't have the the understanding or the budget the team to do this that's not true we are here to simplify web3 for you we're here to teach you how you can use it in your business today we're here to give you the frameworks and the tactics that you need to launch an nft for your

business to launch a token for your business to use a dow to improve governance in your community uh so please don't don't hesitate if you're scared ask us if you have fear or fud you know come on like we want it all we want to help you we're going to simplify it we're going to make it possible for you to use this stuff too and on that note we're actually uh we have a nut so we have this roll-up episode on our podcast we also have what's called the web3 doers spotlight and it's exactly what jay was just talking about where we're going to take people inside of our community and outside just experts or people that are actually doing things in web 3 not people that are talking about doing things but really have done them we're going to interview them every single week and find out what they're

doing what worked what didn't work what they would do differently and what they're up to and where they're going to go with it next and i think that's going to be super super helpful for everyone to just like start wrapping their head around real world use cases and see what's working what's not and i'm super super super stoked for that i stayed up real late last night writing a list of people that i want to interview um but i want to interview everyone in the community so those that are joining the discord community there is a form in there if you'd like to be spotlighted i guess is the term we're using and um yeah fill it out and and look you don't need to be some big time person with a big twitter follower or whatever we don't care we just want to know if you're doing something we're in
