hey everyone my name is Ahmad mardini I'm the CEO of weavedb today I'm going to introduce withdb and then we are going to make some announcements uh so hopefully you enjoy it so I want to ask you a question is your application really decentralized if you are using a centralized database in the background if you are using firestore or any any other centralized databases say yes or no come on okay so what are the problems of using a centralized database we have the single point of failure security vulnerabilities and all of us know what
problems we have with centralized systems so what is webdb withdb is a decentralized nosql database raise your hand if you ever used fire restore mongodb or you have heard about any nosql database before okay that's nice so withdb is exactly firestore on our weave it's fully decentralized what we provide is a seamless Dev experience so you don't need to write a single line of a smart contract and if you know how to use firestore you will be able to use withdb directly so till this moment uh we have some
Solutions in web3 that replace web 2 Solutions like crypto wallet can uh can replace Firebase authentication uh we have warp smart contracts that can replace Cloud functions but till this moment we don't have a fully decentralized database and uh I'm happy to tell you that withdb is the solution right now it's the firestore of web3 so how does this work if you head to our console you click on connect with database deploy so withdb is built on our weave but we have cross chain authentication meaning
that you can use literally any evm wallet AR connect internet identity so I'm going to connect my metamask quality here and I'm going to deploy a database instance you can see that immediately after five to ten seconds we have a database deployed which is a smart contract without writing a single line of smart contract if you head to this to the contract transaction ID you will see uh onward that it's a smart contract on chain we have all the dev tools required for you to build a decentralized application we have access control rules
so you can say this guy can edit data but he can't upload or do whatever we have also a built-in decentralized indexing mechanism because everything is already structured on chain so you don't you don't need an indexing solution to bring that data back we have Chrome jobs which is scheduled tasks built within the smart contract itself so you can say every 24 hours do that action directly on chain we have relayers with relayers you can bring any data from the outside world from a web to API or any States from any chains into if DB so this is a brief intro to to evdb but now we have some big announcements we
want to make at each Dubai so hopefully you are excited as we are first of all who of you uses lens protocol raise your hand okay that's cool my handle is martini.lens feel free to follow me I'll follow you back today so we have officially integrated lens protocol it's a core integration and with less protocol you can do two things with withdb right now the first one lens is a core authentication method so using your lens profile you will be able to interact with your database and the second now devs on our weave will be able to build fully decentralized
applications while using Lanes from the polygon blockchain so think about building a fully decentralized version of Twitter on top of our weave while using lens profiles from the polycon blockchain but how is a cross chain possible with withdb how are we bringing lens from polygon to the r with ecosystem we are officially uh we are happy to announce that we have an official partnership with let's protocol with letter protocol you will be able to build cross chain dabs with withdb you can connect literally any blockchain uh to uh to the RV ecosystem
so till this moment with DB was a database solution but being decentralized uh come with a lot of disadvantages like latency for example so withdb had a three seconds latency when it comes to writing data on chain which is insanely low but we are happy to announce that we have a remarkable performance right now which is 10 to 20 milliseconds for reading queries 30 to 50 milliseconds for write queries so we are not only providing you with a decentralized database fully on chain but scalable fully free to use and faster than web 2 Solutions like uh like
unlock SQL databases till this moment if you want to interact with your database you have to deploy your own node and there's don't need uh to don't want actually to maintain their nodes and put a Dev on on full time to do that so we are happily announcing our manage node service who of you is a DD member developer now okay only few okay so we are announcing our manage node service meaning that you will be able to subscribe to one of our nodes around the world to interact with your database but it's exclusive for developer down members so if you have
the tokens if you have the nft membership you will be able to use our managed node service in the future it will be uh open for everyone so everyone is talking about shot gbt why don't we give it a try so with withdb if you want to build access control rules or Chrome jobs scheduled tasks you will need to use a programming language called fpjson which is built by webdb it's uh Json arrays and you can put computation directly on chain so we have been experimenting with shot gbt and with shot gvt you will be able to build your database directly so you can say HR gbt can you write the the logic
of giving this guy only edit access to my database instead of you going and learning about our programming language uh gbt will write the logic for you so with this integration we are announcing it in a few months it's not fully ready yet uh thank you thank you very much for uh listening to me and if you if you're interested about weavedb you can go to evdb.dev we have some documentation we have some tutorials on how to build using withdb we also have a booth here so if you have any questions and if you want to connect with us feel free to thank you have a good day
