Verkle in Nim

Advaita Saha, Agnish Ghosh, and Naman Garg present work on implementing Verkle tries in Nim at Devconnect Istanbul 2023. Verkle tries are the planned successor to Ethereum's Merkle Patricia trie, shrinking the witness data needed to prove state and moving the protocol toward stateless clients that no longer need to store the full state locally. The talk works through the language-level tradeoffs of building that data structure in Nim, one of the languages used across Ethereum's client ecosystem, and what it means for state management and L1 scaling as the transition to Verkle trees approaches.
