S4 - Ep.5 - Gift Circles & Coordinape with Zach
28 Mar 2024 · 42:35
Green Pill host Kevin Owocki talks with Zach of Coordinape about gift circles as a coordination tool for onchain teams. They trace Coordinape's origin within the Yearn ecosystem, how its peer-to-peer allocation model tries to make capital distribution more transparent and efficient than top-down budgeting, and how ideas like co-links extend that thinking toward network states and onchain reputation.

welcome to the green pill. network podcast if you're just joining us we're building a coordination a network Society of thousands of hackers dreamers and doers using crypto to bring positive some digital systems to the world this podcast features the people who are doing it and we publish an season of a dozen episodes or so every couple months this season is about lean mean Capital allocation machines Capital allocation is the process of deciding how to invest or spend Financial Resources with web 3 we can build onchain Capital allocation and build more scalable precise Less intermediaries in our Capital allocation and I'm just excited about finding the most cool experiments in capital allocation that can help these Dows that
have tens of millions of dollars in their treasury allocate Capital to fund what matters one special thing we're doing this season is allowing you to collect this episode all episodes during this season are available on chain go to pods. medgreen pill if you're interested and collecting thank you to JT nickel. how. eth Simons SD ZX luucas skyou Shan W brand. eth james. and MMA on chain. eth for collecting the green pill episodes if you collect the episode then I may give you a shout out on this on the a podcast episode in the future if you want to learn more about green pill you can visit our website at Green pill.
Network where you can download the green pill book for free join the Discord or become a member of your green. network chapter my guest today is Zach the co-founder of cordin ape cordin ape is building the future of work and future of impact on chain basically their primary product is gift circles a product that allows you and your team members to give each other give tokens as tokens of appreciation for work that have been done in a DA or any context in which you're working with a group and I'm really excited about coordinate because it allows people to peer-to-peer allocate gratitude allocate social connections and allocate Capital to each other as opposed to the old corporate
world where we used to just go to our bosses to get our performance reviews uh cordin AE is kind of like a peer review system for you and your contributors you can see where the trust is happening within your teams without having to have a boss and um you know within this the context of capital allocation I think that projects like protocol Guild and cordin AE are are basically starting with like a registry of humans and setting weights to them helping create Bottoms Up local representations of of how different teams are working and what the inner workings are from which you can then drop Capital Al Al on top of so two different categories of capital
allocation one starts with the pool of capital and tries to figure out who to allocate it with to and then systems like cordinate and protocol Guild start with a registry and uh work backwards from the people and maybe those things will will meet in the middle so uh Zach has been a friend for a long time I think he's one of the smartest and just well-meaning people in the space who are thinking about Capital allocation who were thinking about Dow coordination and coordin tape is used by tens and tens of dows that uh and I think it's really successful in in creating this onchain culture of capital allocation and building trust and positive sum relationships between the people who are doing it and uh that's what green pill is all about so I think you're going to enjoy this episode about core
[Music] what's up Zach Hey Kevin how you doing chilling I'm excited to talk about coordinate Co links all the things you've been up to where should we start uh I mean coordinate is a great place to start if we're talking about uh Capital allocation yep uh so I mean I can share with everybody just the basics of of how coordinate Works um essentially uh any collaborators uh or or teammates you're part of a circle together um you're working on a project whether it's sort of a one-off thing or an ongoing project um and at intervals that we call
epics um you allocate give to each other um and those give are essentially points that can represent um some budget of tokens that you're trying to to distribute um but they also in of themselves have value as reput ation um and so yeah what we've seen is it's it's really a way for teams not only to you know distribute resources to each other but also distribute reputation um and then I I think often overlooked but most critically it's a way to really um support and enhance team culture um because it it elicits really important conversations around
what is valuable and what to meaningful contributions on this team or this project actually look like um you know who is who is providing value what does that mean um so yeah that's basically how it works so as I understand it basically if I'm on a a team that uses coordinate could be a dow but doesn't have to be every Epoch which could be a week or a month or a quarter we go in and we allocate give to each other and the end result is that you can kind of see who of your peers thinks that you're doing a good job or has gifted you give which is a for where the relationships of trust and value occurring in an organization and uh as opposed to traditional Capital allocation where
it's like the boss who decides how everyone is doing uh maybe with the consultation of your peers uh in a coordinate Circle it's actually the peers who are directly peer-to-peer giving give tokens which can be a proxy for Social Capital but also you could do like a token air drop on top of that is that true reductionist is that close at all no that's that's super close um you know I'd say the the the important Nuance there is that we've really built cordinate around um you know focusing on the positive around like appreciation and gratitude so um you know this can be a fine line that can go down the road of like stack ranking um that's not what we're saying like who did the you know
who's best who's number two number three Etc but just noticing those places where people really really performed and and appreciating them for it um and so it becomes kind of a tool to just hone the collective intelligence of the team to make visible what a lot of people just intuited right and that's also a way you know um i' say there's a big difference between you know like you said either a boss can decide who gets paid what or we make a bunch of Arrangements beforehand you know and I'm going to do this for this much money um but this more of like a a retroactive you know public goods funding approach where it's like well
let's see the contributions people actually made because we've all had that experience in a team where someone maybe someone unexpected but certainly someone like stepped up and really delivered and carried the day and maybe someone again unexpected or or didn't and for whatever reasons like didn't um didn't carry things the way that you thought they might and so this is a way to sort of true up your actual experience um instead of having a bunch of of preset agreements um you can have the the allocation reflect sort of what really happened and I'd say that's that's the the big sort of you know Northstar idea behind coordinate is is value in equals value out and and we'll
never perfect that ideal but like you know how can we get closer to that yeah and before we were recording we were talking about the the eight forms of capital basically the this idea that Capital isn't just Financial Capital but it can be intellectual spiritual experiential Social Capital um and and I think that you were saying that it's about more than just Financial Capital when you're voting it's it's more about like the social capital that you that you or other other different types of capital that are not obviously monetary 100 per. I mean we we hear this from users all the time that it's like the notes that they get from people so when you allocate give you also can can send a note and you know there's people that
have have framed the notes that they got from people um I think especially in our industry when you know we're we're all working remote we're working alone sometimes we're even in like Anonymous or pit Anonymous teams and you know just getting that direct appreciation of like hey these things you did really had an impact on me I really appreciate it I I see the effort you're putting in um we don't have as many chances for that you know very few people have managers that are doing monthly reviews and things like that um and so getting that feedback is is really crucial um we also have uh what we call cools which are soulbound tokens that you canm and that takes your give on chain um so you can take that social capital and it doesn't
just live you know within the team you were working in but you can actually have it on chain um so that people that that you're working with can can look and say like oh yeah not only did they say oh I was a gitcoin distributor like I can see the three circles you were in at gitcoin I can see like the value that that you know your colleagues attributed um so you can take that social capital and start to to use it um for your for your reputation on chain i' love to touch on the the origin story of Cordon next uh I think yall were prototyped and built within the urine ecosystem which I understand was a primordial primordial soup of of dowo uh Dow Genesis story and
and I've always been sort of in awe of the urine the UR Genesis story because it seems like like everyone came in on equal footing and it was it was sort of like a Hoban like you had to figure out how to coordinate uh whereas gitcoin my experience with a DA is that it was a company and we had to put it onchain and then progressively decentralize it so the starting conditions are very different for the Dow the Dow that you have experienced in versus versus ours but uh yeah maybe say say a little bit about urn and and how cordin a started yeah um so I also came in to yearn after it was sort of well underway um I I I was more interested in I got interested in Dows just from a coordination
perspective um because of the work I was doing before around impact networks and you know how do you catalyze diverse stakeholders to to make social environmental impact um that's kind of where my focus was and then I when I discovered Dows it's just like oh man you know this is like global peer-to-peer coordination infrastructure like this is amazing um this is actually kind of like a little bit of a full circle moment too because the the one of the first podcasts I heard was you and Amin talking about uh playing molok and hearing that like really Dove me down the rabbit hole yeah it really was I mean that was the first time I really heard the molok meme and I was just like holy I got to get involved with this nonsense um we'll have a link that
in the show notes for the listeners it's an episode with uh Amin Sani myself and David Hoffman on bankless so check out the show notes if you're interested in checking that out right two years ago I heard a a podcast with you to and now I'm knife fighting with Amin and Denver and I'm on a podcast with you so you never know how your life can change um uh so anyway I I I knew I knew tra uh from a previous life and started getting involved with Ur mostly on TR was your coordinate co-founder right thank you trach y opter uh TR opter was a co-founder founder who has also helped design a lot of the the governance at year um and so I started working on the blue pill um which I hope we'll put that
in the show notes also um and just doing various coordination stuff uh within year and one of the challenges that they were having is they had a bunch of contributors doing all this cool stuff um and and they had a grants committee but basically like you know some people would apply for Grants and and didn't deserve them and some people who really deserved them wouldn't even apply and the grants committee is like look we were just like here we didn't want to be on the grants committee how do you decide who's on the grants committee we need a permissionless way to sort of be assigning value um and it converged the way that that we built that company we built it as a network so we didn't have anyone on payroll we would just basically do a project and then invoice
a client and have a conversation about who should get what um and so we kind of used that as inspiration and said what if people just allocated to those who they saw doing amazing stuff in in the ecosystem um and so we we sort of found a few Engineers that had some extra time at year and um put together a prototype and and we had our first circle with people you know just giving and appreciating allocating and and and they really you know loved it it was a lot of fun for them to do um and so then we had a you know sushi at the time uh was a virgin guy who heard
about this and also wanted to try it and it just kind of spread from there with um D's wanting to wanting to do this this Capital allocation that didn't rely on a on a centralized node but rather just listening to the collective intelligence of the community yeah I mean I think it's very elegant to hear what your peers think and to base your compensation off of who thinks you're providing value but also you know having been in these involved in these political economies in the past I'm imagining that there's politics or drama or something that it just kind of brings to the Forefront and um you know in some ways that's a feature you don't you don't want like you know back chanelly backstabby type cultures but also you know it's it's emotionally
exhaustive to have oh wait this person didn't vote for me at all you know like what's up with that uh coming up on a regular basis I don't know if that's something that you want to talk about or if you have any anecdotes to share but that that feels like it would be a challenge if you're constantly on a regular interval having to tell your peers uh what you think uh in in and and allocate scarce give tokens to them I mean definitely it's it's uh it's hard you know I would say like one of the one of the challenges that coordinate presents is it's like okay you know in in in a lot of teams there's there is no HR right we but that means that it's everybody's job um to sort ort of be giving feedback and to um yeah
doing all these things and there is like of course you know there's all sorts of like well they gave some to me does that mean I have to give to them oh I don't know they gave me too much you know or I don't really want to give to yeah all of these considerations oh wow everyone else gave to Kevin do I have to give to Kevin I didn't even work with him this this time um like all of those sorts of considerations um and I would say that that what we found is is what's most important is when people just get started using coordinate um to really just have the framing very clear right and and to set some Norms in advance so if you if you permission people and say like hey look here's how we're going to
do this right only allocate to those people who you've collaborated with directly and you sort of normalize zero give um it's like this is not personal we're just we're only allocating to those people who we who we directly collaborated with um as an example then people like oh okay this now the the the challenges really come when it's when when you get in the ambiguity of like people don't know what the Norms of the rules are yet um so we just encourage people and and we we help people sort of set up what are those cultural norms that you want to have for your coordinate Circle and then once people know and understand those they they catch on really quick um and then the the other thing that I think is is
interesting is that um you know we know from both our own experience but but tons of you know organizational development research as well is that like conflict is is really like one of the best indicators of the the health and and success of a team uh how they deal with conflict how they enter into conflict and so you know we definitely saw cases where cordinate would bring to light you know a lot of uh interpersonal conflicts within a team and they'd be like oh this this tool like this isn't the right tool for us um but but all the conflict is still there and so you know my my ideal and this is still something we're working with and and are developing you know more tools
and especially support systems for teams to sort of navigate like what happens when a conflict gets brought up you know what happens when somebody posts in the Discord like I only got 10 give and I should have got 50 um you know how do you navigate that conversation with it could be like oh my gosh we're so sorry we didn't realize you did that thing and and overlooked or you know how do you have that conversation that hey man this this thing that you're doing that you think is so valuable like isn't as valuable as you think it is um you know being able to navigate those conversations is is in some ways like the the best predictor for for success of a team yeah I mean I think it's really powerful to distribute the
responsibility and opportunity to be HR are to everyone a lot of the engineers I know just don't have the social skills the empathy skills to do conflict resolution and to listen and to not get heated and so I I think that there's there's an opportunity there in distributing those skills and building those skills but um you know it it's it's also a risk too so it's it's interesting to hear you reflect on this because cordin AE is is kind of where a lot of these things will come up um and y'all are doing this at scale if if I recall you're in tens or hundreds of dows so you've seen probably a lot of this yeah we've I mean we still have dozens for sure of dows that are that
are regular users and and also several um you know we're seeing more and more uh kind of I would call them popup teams um you know there's some pretty interesting use cases around uh and emerging around hackathons uh using coordinate so the hackathon teams can allocate to each other and and take those results on record uh or on chain rather um but yeah I I I you know one of the interest areas of mine to to grow coordinate the most is looking at like how do we do support more of this like um team and cultural development through this tool um because I think that's where you know a lot of teams actually have the the highest kind of upside to
grow into um you know most teams don't get beat by Tech technical challenges that get beat by interpersonal and social ones so yeah how can we how can we support those I think is uh something I'm I'm really Keen to to continue to dive deeper into um I'm wondering if you have any reactions to the theme of green pill season 4 which is all about Capital allocation basically the hypothesis is the way we do Capital allocation offchain will be changed and hopefully be made better when we move it onchain more democratic more transparent more scalable more precise less intermediaries um you know is is there anything within that hypothesis that you want to react to especially cord's place in that um I mean I I think I just wanna
I I I just want to cheer it on um I mean you know the the I think the dream of of sort of web 3 and crypto more broadly is this ability to more efficiently allocate Capital um and and the idea that you know you can uh spin up a team spin up a wallet with an idea and and crowdsource that that you know or spin up a safe and be like hey here's our idea here's what we're going to do um somebody likes that and gives you a grant for it and then you can work on it and then through cordin AE you know reward directly all those people who who actually did the work to to do the thing
um and those sort of capital flowthrough without without a lot of the the sort of you know painful cruft of filling out w9s and getting everybody you know uh paid in this way and and contracts and stuff like that that you can really just say here's the idea um and and then the whoever wants to contribute to it can um and and the tokens just can flow directly you know that's that's the other thing that that I think is is really cool about cordinate um we have we do have a vaults product and some of the teams that have used that you know it's really it's cool to see like hey this project you know here's the budget
and you can see it on chain um and and so the work that you do for it then like it's going to get distributed according to this way um so again you know it's just like it's the the the rules of the game being clear and transparent and immutable um before people get started I think relieves a lot of the the pain of having to to trust and make agreements and get clear like what if this happens like oh no it's it's like this is this is going to get paid out according to this so you can really focus on doing the work yeah I I I think it's really sort of interesting to see all the different Capital allocation mechanisms ecology growing up
together um what's in my mind right now is that there's there's Capital allocation mechanisms that start with the pool of money and then figure out how to distribute it and then there's also Capital allocation mechanisms that start with the registry and um work backwards from the registry first I would put like coordinate in protocol Guild sort of in the same sort of category of starting with the registry protocol Guild is a self curing registry that updates itself um and allows you to like weight contributors who are on the list and cinap circles are kind of like the registry deciding its own weight uh and and and maybe they'll be if the Registries are bottom up and the the things that start with the pools of
money or top down I feel like there's like a meeting in the middle at scale of the whole ethereum ecosystem as the ecosystem sort of starts to self Define around how it allocates capital so yeah I don't know if you have any reactions to that but that was just what's in my mind's eye as you were speaking well I I think the other the the part that I'm in increasingly Keen for coordinate to play as well is like we were saying before is not necessarily even as much the financial Capital as the reputational capital and the fact that you can really take those contributions on chain um so that you know if if if for example I was uh contributing at protocol Guild I you know it's one thing to say like oh I was
a contributor there and it's another thing to say look I was a part of 14 epics and I got over 2,000 give you know um like you can you can see that and and and the assumption is I must have been like a a good a good collaborator like I was actually contributing value there as a tested by my peers not as attested by like my tenure there or um by a single manager or something um so it's just it's it's a much more like high signal way to to to build reputation and build credibility in the space um when when you can take when you can take that reputation and then it's also portable
you know with you so it doesn't just live in the organization everyone knows oh you were amazing to work with or hard to work with um it's you know that you take that with you everywhere you go and can continue to build it so that part of the transparency and and composability um of capital allocation I think is really important too as we think about all those different kinds of capital not just Financial yeah for sure um I feel like we've sort of covered a lot of cordin tape stuff and I'm tempted to go on Co links next um is there anything else to say about about Corde um no I don't think so I think we've we've covered the basics it's it's
really pretty straightforward you know now I think we can say it's it's retroactive public goods funding for people um in a nutshell that's kind of how it works um and that you know I just want people to understand that it's as much a a cultural tool as it is a a capital allocation tool and that there's there's huge opportunity there but um yeah happy to move on to co okay well now I'm going to have to expand the scope of the season to a cultural allocation it's like a weird series of terms together but uh I think the two can flow together so um it's all good yeah tell us about cinks uh so cinks is is a social network and the basic idea is can we kind of open up um coordinate circles and and
instead create um you know just a a bigger Network where people can allocate givs so sort of looking at uh we looking at LinkedIn and and the the sort of terrible terrible system of endorsements there and that anyone can kind of post anything and you know looking at H how can we use web 3 as this way of you know building a trusted Professional Network um where endorsements you know actually actually mean something um but especially also that are they're they're provable and portable as well um and so we created co- links um again that's you you have a a co-o that is
sort of your your avatar in that in that system and um it you you can post and share you know ideas opportunities Etc and co- links um and also you can give allocate give to people for specific posts or for specific skills um and so really trying to build a sort of um hopefully better LinkedIn um for the for the web 3 on chain set MH yeah I've got cooll links up in my browser listeners can get to it at co links.in tape.com uh looks like someone has been buying and selling my links so it's kind of interesting to see uh that kind of
mechanic in a professional Network yeah we we we were trying to think of ways like how could we um how could we create a high signal Network um you know the biggest problem with a lot of these platforms certainly LinkedIn um is you know how do you how do you maintain High signal when there's just all sorts of different posts and the algorithm is going to feed you different things based on what that the company's goals not necessarily yours um so we created a system sort of borrowing uh the idea from frch that you can you can buy links and that they're on a curve um it turns out we flattened the curve quite a bit but not nearly enough
um and so we we've got some ideas in the pipeline for how we can um further further uh make access to to a lot more links to grow the network um we find that that it still gets a little bit too expensive for a lot of folks at the at the higher end after a lot of people's links get bought um but the idea is that that's a way to really curate um you know and and both get your ideas in front of people who you may not be able to in other networks um and also you know really have a have an audience that that has you know cross that that frictional barrier of um paying a couple bucks of of uh optimism e in order to to make the purchase um and so you know
we're we're looking for like a a much more High signal cultivated and curated uh Network and and our plan is to introduce you know much more um professional opportunities in cinks so ways for people to do different job searches or exclusive job postings um as well as a ways just to analyze your onchain activity uh po apps nfts Etc to find other people who may be weak ties in the network who you're not actually connected with yet yeah there's a whole category of I guess I'll call it like casual Capital allocation um um and and it it's basically for me is like low
transaction cost high high number of transactions Capital allocation you know so if you think about retroactive public goods funding or getcoin grants you're basically moving like 10,000 or $100,000 at a time but now that we've got blobs uh which by the way we're recording this on dunun day so happy blob Day to you and to the audience uh we're gonna have super cheap transactions and so it's going to enable a lot of like really emergent casual Capital allocation that feels more like a social network than a like a true I know traditional Capital allocation tool and Co linkx feels like it's in that category for me um allowing me to just spend 0 one eth at a time on on buying your link and to give you give
tokens and yeah I'll be curious to see what what is successful in that category yeah um you know our main thing is that we really want people to be able to to get giving and and and make onchain ad attestations and endorsements in a way that's like easy and fun and and meaningful um and yeah we're we're planning some pretty pretty cool Integrations um into foraster so that people will also be able to give give directly within foraster um and just really trying to make that that reputational and social signal attestation um more visible and more valuable for folks I'll be curious you know now that there's more casual or
emergent give circles I'll be curious what the how the patterns of those differ from the people who have persistent working relationships and Dows you would think that people who are in the outer orbit or more casual relationships with each other will will allocate give tokens cultural capital uh in in different ways than than people who are in the inner orbit from each other it just feels like that makes sense intuitively but to see that in the data would be cool yeah we're we're excited about a lot of the different kinds of visualization um that we're going to be able to do as people start building their social networks through you know essentially through these these attestations of of skills um and contributions with give um but yeah
they'll be and and and down the road you know there's definitely a hope that these two things can can kind of continue to grow together um you know I one of the dreams is that like people in cinks find each other and then can actually start a coordinate circle from from right in there um from right inside Co links uh just like hey let's let's work on this project together let's do this thing together um we can spin up a project right here so it's really kind of turning turning the the LinkedIn idea on its head you know where you're where you're there like um trying to get a job within a company where or instead you're just trying to find collaborators to to spin up something and you can start a
company from within co- links you know started out from within cinks um yeah that's that's the the long-term Vision um would love to Pivot the conversation towards your work in network States and your interest in network States what are you what are you doing with respect to network States and what's interesting about it to you um I I think similarly I mean what's interesting about it to me is I would just say similar similar to the interest in Dows is just that um it offers the promise of sort of wholesale new systems as opposed to trying to Tinker with and and improve you know the current current systems you kind of look around and see all these
institutions being you know kind of hopelessly broken and and the idea that you can somehow start fresh I think is always just like really really intriguing um the practicalities of that obviously are are are something else entirely um but I I think that that organizing people around um shared values and shared aspirations as opposed to geography just makes a ton of sense in the you know in the digital age um we're increasingly less Bound by geography um for for a lot of things and so like why not be able to to organize um more broadly um in all sorts of ways
and how could we like potentially provision services to each other um more effectively in some ways than the state does um yeah so so all that's really intriguing um and you know throughout before before Corde and then even you know during we we've hosted several events um like Dow camp and like metac camp where we're basically bringing together leaders from from around web 3 to really shift their context and and be in the same place for a period of time um and I think experiments like those um like like zalu and like what the folks at Edge City are doing um you know the folks at kman obviously um have been
leaders in this I think building the world's first Network City uh I I think just more and more you're going to have um these these sort of popup popup cities popup towns instantiations where people come together and and form a community online but then really IRL is where the those bonds get get solidified um you know this this I think it's it's it's really new but it's it's really um it's really compelling to think about like what where that could lead um where how people could start to provision you know different kinds of services different kinds of communities
um when they start online and then instantiate in real life versus versus the other way around yeah yeah I mean I think it's going to be really interesting to see how many of these things that we're innovating in the Dow space can be ported to physical communities which just have different trust assumptions and you see each other face to face a whole whole whole lot more IRL so yeah be be curious about that yeah I also just I mean I feel like whenever I'm at you know any any web three events and and I'd say especially within the ethereum community I mean it there there's very few people who I feel like would first identify like with their with their nationality you know um
it feels like those those identifications of the way people are like you know I I feel like a lot of the people I meet much more are kind of world citizens and would identify themselves with through various online communities that they're a part of a lot more than you know their their nation state as a part of like a core part of their identity um obviously that's a big generalization but that just seems to be my feeling and then and like the younger the generation that they're a part of the more it sort of feels that that way um and I think that that there's you know going to be increasing you know people that are born kind of digital first and and spend so much of their lives in the metaverse um it's only
natural that they're going to start to congregate and and identify with those communities first and foremost before their before their nation states it's interesting to hear that in OTE but also to contrast that with at least here in the United States it feels like we're moving towards more of like away from the globalization of the 1990s and the 20 2000s into more of like a nationalistic uh onshoring manufacturing and on Shoring all these different Supply chains and stuff so it's interesting to compare and contrast those things and I almost think of it as like a swirl between the net like the network and the nation uh as Humanity different subsections of humanity try to figure out where their communities of
trust are and how they identify themselves yeah I mean I I think the ultimate sort of instantiation of of network States will probably be like Watershed based Biore Regional um you know places of physical geography where people are based and and then um you know there'll be a network of those that you're a part of um and and so you know there's a lot will happen online um people will find you know Affinity groups and connections and sort of find like what are the the right places for me and then and then you know basically choose their membership in those kind of network States um this is getting into
kind of snow crash far future territory um but but that's what to me is exciting about them is the the idea that you could actually um you know have have have have a state or or a city or some you know place that you're a part of that's really formed through values um and and shared ambition as opposed to just circumstance of of where you were born well uh I think that we're getting towards the bottom of the hour is there anything that I didn't ask that you want to say Zach I don't think so I think we we we we covered everything um I guess just that that as we think about these Network States um and the way that
coordinate plays into it you know when when you start thinking about how do you filter for all these people who are going to want to come be a part of your thing um and not just coordinate but all these sort of onchain reputation Primitives I think you know they've they've been hard to get going because of the the demand for onchain reputation just isn't isn't there yet um but I think it's going to be super important the way we allocate um reputation and Trust um going forward and and and so I'm excited about a lot of the projects that are that are working right now to try to figure that out yeah yeah it's interesting how you use the words allocate and trust and allocate
reputation uh and I feel like there's almost like a mirror of capital allocation that's dependent on the trust graph in the web of trust and and reputation and it makes me wish I had called this allocation season instead of capital allocation season because it feels like when you take in the eight forms of capital it's broader than just Capital although Capital mirrors a lot of these other like trust and reputation allocation things yeah I mean you know back to the question when you were saying you know like what what's exciting specifically about web 3 and in allocating all these various forms of capital is the way that you can sort of program it you know so you could say like uh we're going to have streaming payments for you know people to do XYZ
but then there's multipliers for like how many people people have you been endorsed by and how many you know grants have you given to and so you can really start to identify and find and reward certain kinds of pro-social behavior um or you know to to to sort of take whole a whole person into account um through their onchain activity and attestations from others um and that I think is is really exciting to be able to start like actually incentivizing and rewarding the pro social behavior we want to see yeah well uh hanging out with you and and talking to you makes me feel like I'm at the frontier of this space so uh thanks for giving us a piece of your mind and
