hi yes my name is Jonna sish and I'm with ma da I'm the head of Business Development at maid da awesome where are we now and how you feeling we are at eth Barcelona and I'm feeling amazing here it's a great Energy Great Vibe and amazing group of people here that are supporting the the overall mission of eth Barcelona happy to be here awesome tell us more about what you're working on yeah so my da is actually uh we're not a DA but we're a company that lives to exist to help support uh web 3 community and Dows and we provide legal entity solutions for Dow projects in the Marshall Islands so if you think about um setting up a legal entity for a project we work exclusively with the

government of the Marshall Islands to help write the legislation and we recently passed the Dow Act of 2022 last year and so we're the only Sovereign Nation in the world to actually recognize web 3 and comprehensive Dow legislation in the world so we're really excited about what we can offer the the community here and just Dows in general awesome that's super super interesting so how did you decide to tackle that specific problem um well so I prior to working at at my da which I joined them in January prior to working with my da I was involved with bank list Dow and also I worked in venture capital and in the tech industry in augmented reality and the reason that attracted me to my da in

this whole Space of focusing on legislation to make a I'll say like an easy Pathway to allow projects to launch is I saw the founder speak at e Denver last uh February 2022 and it really touched me because I thought this is what despite what people think about not wanting to have to involve legalities in different jurisdictions I thought this is the best way to help web 3 take off is to have this platform in place and so yeah I met the founder and we stayed in touch and the the rest is history so that's what attracted me to it in the first place do some kind of your favorite use cases and what do you see DS doing more of in the future oh I

don't know if I have a favorite use case but I talk with anywhere from 20 to 50 DS a week so they make inbound inquiries to us about how we might be able to help them I would say we have a mix of like every use case could be possible like a book club could become a da um like your mom's yeah I always say like your mom's book club could become a dow or it could be something more sophisticated like a defi protocol project so we have clients that are defi protocol projects we have clients that are um focusing on green energy we have clients that are focusing on creating beer and rum and spirits and

ones that are focusing on social missions to help you know save the rainforest and things like that so the use cases are endless and I would say the biggest Trend I'm seeing now with Dows is that they all have recognized that it's so important in order to attract a really amazing community of of members that they need to provide some framework to protect the the um contributors right because of what happened with okid da and what seeing play out in the the media at least in the US unfortunately we're seeing a lot of U it's very aggressive what's happening right and so in order to keep these dowo

communities strong and contribution High there need to have a basic framework of legal protection in place and people need to understand that and so I feel that there's a big Trend now happening uh with contributors and Dows where they're starting to ask does this Dow have legal protection and and maybe like a year or two ago I wasn't hearing questions like that being asked and so I feel like yeah community members and contributors are just getting smarter every day about all of these things and in a sense probably like uh with medicine maybe 10 years ago when people started to look up all of their ailments on Google now people are becoming like Google lawyers which is both good and

bad right because a lot of the information that they obtain is is not accurate so we are hoping to help change that and um provide that accuracy in the space and you mentioned a few few Concepts here like including I guess like legality and uh maybe even privacy and that's actually one of the key topics of if Barcelona last year it was more about the optimistic solar Bank this year it's uh L Bank as well with these these different concepts so what has been your kind of reflections over the past year in the space and yeah how do you feel about the things that have happened and what we need to do instead well a lot needs to happen um and I think that for the most part if you walk around this conference and if I if I

mention that I'm here uh to help Dows with legalities and things like that a lot of people's initial reaction is oh I hate the legal side of things and and I can appreciate why people say that because when you think about legalities and things like that often it's easy for people to think that it limits them and what I hope to do here and at some of the other events and just in the community in general is to help educate people that it's not necessarily to put Shackles on people it's actually to empower them to be to act freely about what they want to do with their da and their project so that they're not hiding

or operating under the guise of some false pretense that that they have some legal protection so um I would say that's that's a big theme and then just a reflection around the Privacy is I even had this conversation today I what I'm really surprised at is that most of web 3 we all utilizing I don't want to badmouth Google because they've done you know a great job to help us in manyways but the whole backbone and infrastructure of web 3 is riding on Google and I think that's very dangerous for all obvious reasons right because that's the whole ethos of web 3 is to be able to empower people give them self sovereignty protect their data and we don't have that today so we're not quite

there yet and um this is where things like legislation can can come in and help and also I think just once we see this technology emerge like maybe a web 3 Google if you will I think more and more people will start to move away from the big corporate Giants and move into utilizing our own technology sort of like practicing what we preach or at least that's what I hope to see so that's my biggest reflection on on privacy and then I think here just in Europe having the the gdpr data protection I think is is super helpful but that's not harmonized yet across the world and so until we get to that place I think um you'll see lots of Dow

projects or web three projects doing things like legal Arbitrage where they get protection in different jurisdictions to do the different types of functions um and activities that they want um lastly tell us what you're most excited about for the upcoming two or three days yeah well I'm super excited to listen to a lot of the speakers my my fellow web 3 speakers here um to talk about privacy and things of that nature uh we're also doing a panel that talks about the legislative changes around the world that's happening today and on a daily basis like I I try to keep up with just as part of my role to keep up with what's happening around the world and

there's just so much um goodness but there's also a lot of aggression and I think that the one thing that the web3 community would probably agree with is that everybody's on board with the US is just not a friendly jurisdiction right now and so projects are continuing it's not stopping anyone it's just they're continuing outside of the US right like so maybe the contributors still live there still pay taxes there but perhaps they have legal protection somewhere else in the world and so I think that's a positive right because businesses have always been able to do that and I think web 3 should be able to enjoy that same type of benefit but yeah I'm just really excited to meet the people and to meet

you today and and um my colleagues that I talk with on Twitter and Discord and and all it's great to it's great to see them meet people in real life and see that people really look exactly like their avatars or their photos so that's why I'm happy to be here for the people love that thank you so much for your Insight and for being here today thank you for having me thank you
