Zak Cole examines what makes crypto markets genuinely liquid, and where that liquidity actually breaks down across decentralized exchanges. At ETHDenver 2023, the Ethereum protocol engineer and co-founder of the DEX aggregator Slingshot Finance draws on work building liquidity-routing infrastructure to explain how fragmented liquidity across chains and pools affects traders and protocols alike. The talk considers how aggregation and routing strategies can offset the liquidity fragmentation that comes with a multi-chain DeFi landscape. Cole frames liquid markets as an infrastructure problem, not simply a function of total value locked.
