How Does Mempool Encryption Affect ERC-4337?
ETH Tbilisi 2.1 · April 2026 · 1:32
Luis Bezzenberger and Loring Harkness of Shutter Network debate how EIP-8105 interacts with ERC-4337 alternative mempools used for account abstraction. The brief clip considers what changes for bundlers and smart accounts. Recorded at ETH Tbilisi 2.1.

And I'll ask one more question. The MEV actually is a subject that I had a close like relation to because I do my projects with account abstraction and I don't my third question is about how much that will affect like the mempools of like you know ERC 4337 mempools because I I think it's public it's more public. Will the change also affect the ERC 337 mempools? Yeah, I mean I mean for now like it's generally just compatible with
that, right? And it doesn't really affect it. So account abstraction should just work. But yeah, then you're you're already you already said it correctly like there is a second there's another mempool there in front of the public mempool that would then be public and then there are the MEV that can be extracted. So um so then the encrypted mempool on the protocol level is kind of like useless because you already seen the transaction before. Um so so yeah that that that would need to I think that would just need to be addressed separately either by another round of encryption for example um or again alternatively like that's the assumption there [snorts] where you say you have to trust the the account abstraction or say like
paymaster or whatever it's the the the the the one who would kind of like is in control of that of the transaction.
