Introduction: Healing, AI & Web3
Okay, I'm going to talk about the title of my talk actually. So, it was going to be peer-to-peer meditation. Kind of this idea of um how we all kind of elevate each other and I'm going to integrate that in. But then I saw this title in the actual program which is also very related to the stuff that I can talk about. So, I'm going to do a little bit of both. We're going to merge these two things together. And basically, um, my intent is to talk about the intersection of healing AI and web 3. And a little bit about how I've started to explore mapping the human psyche with this technology, but really at the heart of this, even though we're going through a pretty incredible technical revolution, um, my core belief is that really the most effective way to do this work is in
community and with each other. So, we will be doing some um you know, self-reflection, a little bit of meditation in the middle, and we'll do some talking to each other. So, it's going to be a mix of each each of these little pieces. Um sound good? Everyone cool with this as a title, even though maybe it wasn't exactly what you were expecting. Um and it's certainly not elliptical curves. Okay. So, a little bit about uh me. I figured that's a good place to start of how I got here talking about these topics in any sort of authoritative way. Um, a lot of it is mostly through my own life experience.
Personal Background & Healing Journey
So, um, when I was really well, I kind of always had these two paths and maybe a lot of you guys can connect with this, right? A deep professional connection to, you know, cutting edge technology and we're all in this room, so I know you all can relate to that. And, um, kind of simultaneously was going through pretty gnarly healing processes myself. Um when I was 14, I nearly died and that was at the hands of like a chronic illness but also deeply psychological. Had a lot of you know mental and emotional things connected and took me about 10 years to like fully heal from that while I was building up kind of a professional portfolio and um then about four years ago got hit with another chronic illness um which was unrelated
but also deeply connected to the psyche. So kind of by brute force um have been looking at both of these two things of how do we heal ourselves but also how do we use technology and these new technologies to help us do this more effectively. And so um as I was going through these pretty rigorous selfhealing tools, I learned a lot of I learned a lot like I threw myself into like several different modalities and did all sorts of you know trainings and teachings and whatever. And maybe if you're here in this room and you care about this topic, you have also done some of these things for the sake of trying to improve yourself in your life.
Technology + Psychology Intersection
And I got really curious about how do we use this intersection of tech and healing to accelerate. And as I started thinking about these things, I got to this uh got to this uh summary or this kind of revelation that u an intersection that really makes sense is uh data. Sounds maybe obvious to people in this room, but um if you're healing and let's say you're talking with like a therapist or a coach or you're in a meditation retreat, one of the things that accelerates that is our own self-realization. So when we see ourselves and we learn something new about ourselves in a new way, we can um evolve the way that we think and oftent times that empowers us to uh take some sort of action, change some things or
make make differences in our day-to-day. And what that really boils down to is capturing the right amount of data so that we can see ourselves most effectively. And any good coach or therapist is kind of like housing this data, right? Is like tracking your psyche itself. So what if we actually could combine these two things, the technology that's, you know, helping put that data back in our own hands with things like blockchain and things like AI that can accelerate that data capture. and essentially um started a project to basically if you guys are familiar with the Fusaka upgrade that just happened there's this kind of concept of pure DOS which is basically taking like a snapshot of the larger you know whole blockchain to um assess it.
Using Data to Understand the Psyche
That's kind of what we were doing is like trying to get enough data to hit a critical mass where you can start to understand your own traumas and how those affect your day-to-day lives so that you can actually start to use that data effectively and in like your pocket through like an AI bot to um to learn more about yourself and heal. And we did this in pretty gnarly uh circumstances. So we worked with uh this is a project that I did um with two other colleagues of mine and we worked with chronically ill folks. We spent a lot of time with cancer patients and basically we use these tools to map the human psyche and um the intent was always to utilize all this data to help pattern match people to other people's experience. So when we talk about this
Mapping Human Experience with AI
idea of like peer-to-peer connection using other people's experiences was actually the critical lynch pin in making sure that people could effectively you know collapse those patterns and make themselves better faster. So I thought today, you know, we we have this concept of like yes, web 3 and AI can help scale these things and help make them more accessible to people. But again, like I mentioned, at the core of this is really about our own self realization, our own data capture and our connection to each other. So, um I thought I would actually take uh the um data process, the data capture process that we um piloted and used in all these circumstances with those like
Peer-to-Peer Healing Concept
thousands of patients and people um and apply that here in this room. So we could all experience what that feels like to go into the psyche, capture data, and then have an objective and collaborative community review of kind of what we uncover and see, you know, what we can actually help elevate and heal and connect with uh in this room right here with AI or without it. Um and so there's two things before we go into this exercise that we learned. So we talked with all these people uh did them my own self-experiments as well and realized that the things that accelerate the quality of data that you can get on your own psyche to create this little version of your mind to heal
is one getting into meditative states because when you're in meditative states essentially you can permeate between you know your conscious reality and your unconscious reality and it can help you uh see things more clearly and more completely. completely. So, we're going to get into a meditative state in a minute to get the most out of the psyche data we're going to capture. And the second thing, this is really important, is our connection to community. So, remember when I was mentioning that that AI tool that was pattern matching, it was using other people's experiences and other people's data to pattern match against new patients that would come in to help them accelerate their own m their own their own patterns and see themselves more effectively. So if you
Why Community Accelerates Growth
work together, if we all work together and share what we've gone through, it actually collapses the timeline. So in my own journey, it went from 10 years to three years of healing, like condense that down by seven years. But with these tools and with each other, we can actually make that, I believe, even shorter. Like someone could move through a chronic illness fully completely in maybe less than a year if they have these tools. That's my like fun dream. We'll see. Um so meditative states and community support. So, we're taking all these learnings and we're going to apply them here together, you know, now that our brain kind of understands why we're doing that. Um, okay. So, you guys ready to do a little internal meditation? I know it's really tempting to look at our
Preparing for Meditation Exercise
phones and like look at our technologies. I've definitely been in the audience on the other side of this exact thing, but you're here. You chose to listen to this session. And so I'm going to gently invite you to join with everyone else who's going to close their eyes and like take a minute to reflect. So when you're ready, just going to invite everyone to close your eyes and your laptops and your phones. And oh, I love the light turned down. That was perfect. Um, I'll just invite you to take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
Guided Meditation Begins
I know some of you guys were in Taichi, so maybe that's continuing here. And you're just going to um repeat that a handful of times. So, in through the nose and out through the mouth. Just kind of scanning the body, noticing how your shoulders feel. Maybe you relax them down the back or give them a little shake.
Noticing how your feet are touching the ground. Like how does that feel? the pressure of your toes and your shoes. Just acknowledging that um there's something here meeting your soul, the feet supporting you. And just take another breath in and out.
Body Awareness & Breath
just acknowledging uh all the other people around you and this really cool space we get to share. And um I'm just going to encourage you all to come to mind with one thing you're feeling really uh grateful for today. could be really small, you know, like just this next breath or, you know, the opportunity to be in a beautiful space and stay connected to your breath.
Gratitude Reflection
And bring your attention now um to the center of your chest. And just remember like you're in a pretty contained space. There might be people that gently come in and out, but you're you're pretty contained here. You know, it's pretty safe. And I'm going to invite you now to bring to mind in this space that is really contained and safe um something over the past let's say 2 to 3 weeks where you felt um activated.
Revisiting a Recent Emotional Trigger
Maybe it was an argument with a friend or a partner. Maybe it was some work stress. um doesn't really matter what it is, but just um connecting to an experience. Typically bigger, we remember more, but small moments are fine, too. I just want you to to yourself in your own mind, just kind of play out what happened.
You don't have to stress about getting the perfect memory. So, just, you know, roll with what comes up and try to get pretty um unfiltered in your mind of like what the conflict or what the challenge or what the emotion was to the point where maybe you start to feel like you're slightly back in it. And then just kind of ask yourself what is my body feeling?
Observing Physical Sensations
So am I feeling you know heaviness in my chest or my shoulders raising? My jaw clenching? Maybe I'm feeling the urge to like fidget. Just kind of take a mental note of how the physical physical body feels and then ask yourself what emotions are you feeling right now. So just like you're tabulating data, what emotion?
Identifying Emotions
Sadness, anger, frustration, shame, worry. And just take another deep breath there. Just remembering you're in a safe contained space. People might walk in and out, but you're good. And so I'm going to read off uh five words. Keep your eyes closed still. And just feel into like uh did this situation feel like one of these words, all of them? a few of them.
Core Emotional Patterns (Abandonment, Rejection, etc.)
So, did you feel abandonment, rejection, humiliation, betrayal, or injustice? Abandoned, rejected, humiliated, betrayed, injustice. Did this reinforce a negative or positive belief you have about yourself? Just feel into it. Like we're just kind of using our intuition. You don't have to overthink it.
And have you felt like this before? Something like this occurred in your life previously? Maybe you felt a similar feeling, similar argument or trigger. And just take about three more breaths here. Inhale through the nose. Exhale through the mouth. Slowly deepening the breath. So inhaling through your nose a little more. Exhaling through your mouth.
Recognizing Personal Beliefs & Patterns
And then last one. Real nice and deep. Letting that go. And then you can slowly begin to open up your eyes. Um, and before you move on from that, I just want you to um, open up like your notes app on your phone or grab a piece of paper and just jot down a couple of notes, just data capturing, okay? Of what that experience was. I have the questions here. So, you can also just, you know, tabulate it in your head, but it's nice to write it down because, um, you can go revisit it.
So, even if you're feeling like a little activated, it's good to know what those things are. Okay. So, I'll give you like a minute or two to just track down your own personal psyche data. And if you're feeling like it brought up something, um, that's good. We're going to continue with this kind of feeling.
Tracking Behavioral Patterns
And it's kind of especially nice to just kind of think like where have I seen this show up prior. So you can keep tabulating and writing things down. I'm going to give a couple of words of thought and then we're going to maybe turn the lights up in a second. Um when we think about going into our emotional state through meditation or meditative practices, what it means is like I said we get more access to this emotional and psychological data. So if you can start capturing some of that data in a somewhat repeated way, what will happen is you will start to track patterns. Yeah, lights up is perfect. You can start track patterns around your psyche. You'll start to
notice if there's a thread between, you know, an argument you had with a colleague and you know a thing that happened when you were a kid. And when you start to realize these things through data capture, diligent data capture, you can start to again come into realization. But those things, like I mentioned, get shortened and condensed and accelerated when we can talk with each other and reflect on each other's experience. So, I know everyone absolutely does not love this, but we're going to do it anyways because that's why we're here and we're gathered and why not? I'm going to invite you guys to turn to the person next to you. I know everyone's like, "Oh, God, it's the morning." But really, genuinely, try it, you know? And you don't have to go deep into anything, but give like a high level of just like how that was for you.
Pair Sharing Exercise
if there's any revelation you had. Um, you might not know the person next to you or you might. Um, so find the person next to you and just have like a really quick like five minute or less conversation about that. I mean started Everything's changing so fast.
Community Reflection
Yeah. Oh yeah. driving yesterday was for a long while and now it's almost entirely and I don't go to school here's the energy missing some of that
like Well, they have this where it's like this thick but this meeting Okay. So, you're going to take another minute just chatting.
Insights from Mirroring Others
>> We could probably spend forever talking about this. >> And I didn't realize Where is right? >> Yeah. maybe
you know I have not worked with that guy specifically about this systems right we've got you All right. I wish I could keep you here forever. I really do. >> But for the sake of timing, wrap up your conversations.
Human Connection vs AI
>> You can always find each other after to continue the chat. I promise if we had like a whole like hour, I would keep you here for probably about 15 minutes just because you're going to get more out of each other than listening to me for sure. Um, but I want to just kind of uh maybe just get a like show of hands of like was was the connection with each other like interesting, insightful, did it help you in some way? Yeah. Okay. The people who did it. Yeah. Right. That's that's pretty consistent with uh what we learned, which is that when you talk to each other and you see yourself reflected in the other, it actually um gives you more revelation and helps your data capture. So if you did take notes on your experience, um you can add some
extra ones about what you learned from hearing someone else talk. And there's this there's this kind of spiritual principle of like, you know, um everything is a mirror. Have you guys heard this concept? Maybe some have. It's okay if you haven't, but this idea of everything is a mirror. So when we get in a relationship with someone or we're connected with someone or we're a friend with someone or we randomly connect with someone in in time and space, um they're reflecting something back to us. And if we use that as a way to accelerate our data, then yes, AI, web 3, all this stuff can really help us gain ownership and capture our own internal data faster, but actually will never really take away the need for us to see and mirror one another. And you can train an AI system as we've tried and definitely had some success with,
Practical Self-Tracking Method
right, in learning pattern matching, but you cannot uh ever outperform or out um out innovate what happens when you talk with someone because what someone holds is just a whole mess of things, right? We're just getting a section that little pyos one blob capacity whatever of the whole psyche of somebody when we do this. So in order to accelerate technology but also human connection and each other. But if you want to really double down and have like a um you know super fast evolution of your own psyche and pattern matching um two things you can do uh a couple things you can do.
Consistency & Healing Outcomes
One is commit to your data capture. I can't tell you how many people that I've worked with and met including people who were gravely ill and um had some pretty rough prospects who um didn't have that desire, didn't have that spark within them to actually do this work. And and I have no judgment genuinely I do not because it is hard. Um but in order to move through these things no technology is going to solve that for you. You have to do it yourself. And so um a simple easy digestible don't need to read a million books or go to a million seminars way to start is to I can share these slides too but like just ask yourself some questions when you're feeling activated and capture it down in your notes app and capture the data and then talk to somebody about it just
within yourself within your friend group and you know maybe once a week sit down and say hey what were the patterns here if you're really committed you don't need any of this stuff but you can also use it to make it more effective um if you commit to like and this is out of watching and kind of thinking about the the the customer group that we had and all the people that we were studying and and reflecting on when someone really showed up and were like logging these triggers and looking at theelves like a couple times a week like three to four times a week. I mean, and the container we were typically in was about 3 months, we saw like tremendous change if someone was doing it like h once or twice, which I get life is life, right? I'm not there's no judgment, but just this is
Processing Emotions Physically
the the revolutions of information that we found, right? When you show up and do this consistently and you you look at yourself consistently in a sort of repeatable way, you'll see a change. Um, and when you talk with somebody else about this data, makes it 10 times more effective. And this is the last piece, not to get too complicated, but when you feel stuff come up, so maybe you were in this meditation, you started to feel things kind of come to the surface or some of the stuff you went through kind of bubbled, um, move the emotion. You don't need lots of money. You don't need lots of tools. You just need to go outside for a run or dance it out or whatever. Scream into a pillow. That's my personal favorite. And uh that helps.
Technology Won’t Replace Humanity & Closing Thoughts
So um yes, technology and tech solutions and healing can work at scale, but it will never replace the humanity. So um with that, thanks. Hope you got something out of this. uh yeah, let me know if you have questions. I'm happy to share those those questions set and I hope you guys you know explore your own inner psyche and do the mapping. Have fun. Okay. Thanks.
