How many people are content creators in the room? Yeah, I know there's a belief that content creators are people who do videos, right? But developers don't even know that they are content creators. I'm a developer myself. Actually, I'm studying computer science in school, but I love editing rather than develop. Trust me. Uh yeah, I love I can spend hours editing rather than writing code, but at the end of the day, my HOD will still collect what he wants to collect. GMJ Lagos. JM jam every single person. Uh my name is King Messang. Most people address me as the content chef. I am the co-founder of Orex Prime. Jesus, there are too many lights in the room. Oh god.
And the lady behind the camera is my co-founder at Ox Prime. We are the first onchain uh media company in our mind. I see Excel. I saw your tweets. It's the very first time we're seeing Yeah. I owe you. I owe you definitely. So, I came on this stage today to to say a couple things. I'm dressed like uh I think I tried to dress like an Nigerian. Did I Did I sell it off? I tried my best. Yeah. Uh okay. So, I came on this stage today to actually say a few things. One of those things is harnessing the ripple effect of has African creators.
This is actually a tough topic, but it's one I wanted to say. It's one I wanted to talk about. Ah, crazy. I'm a visual and creative director. I am an entrepreneur. I am anme investor. Yes. I mean, see it as you see, but I love business. Yeah. Startup founder of over 10 startups. Crazy. And I've been doing this for about seven years. I'm in my early 20ies. Yeah. Now, crazy thing is I'm a filmmaker. I've been making movies for over seven years. Uh four time international film award here in Nigeria, Africa, Canada, and the rest of the countries.
I want to say one thing. I don't even care about my slide actually, which is as an African, it is very possible to play in on the global stage. And this is one thing I want to prove to everybody here today. Quick one. Yeah. Is there is a saying that says jack of all trade, master of none. Yes or no? Hello. It's an interactive session, please. There's a saying that says jack of all trade the master of what? Crazy. Yeah. I tell people I have like 13 skill sets but I'm looking at it now.
He reached 10 reach like 15. We're talking about four things today and then we're done. Yeah. The stigma, the problem, the solution, and the ripple effect. Are we ready, guys? Guys, are we ready? All right, let's go. So, the stigma first and foremost, let's read together. For too long, the world has seen African creatives as less valuable, leading to limited opportunities. Together, the next one, for some who are known to be valuable, they can earn peanuts as favor in exchange for their craft. The next one, creatives as a whole, especially in
Africa, has limited themselves from dreaming big or competing in the global stage. Do we all agree with this stigma? Oh my god. People tag me as the most stubborn creative in web 3. I'm so stubborn. I don't do all those blockchain I'm not I'm not even there for it. Trust me, you you won't find me. First and foremost, if I don't want you in my stuff, you won't be there regardless of how much you give. My people know it. It's a rule that has always been there. Yeah. I grew up in a house where my mother used to tell me be contented with what you are. If you eat egg, they go beat you up. If you if you if you attempt to even eat snail, you are done.
Ah, they say are you are you an arm robber? Why are you eating egg? Egg my brother egg. When I was the way I was afraid of buying egg from the shop, they said you are eating a full chicken. How is egg a full chicken? My brother the way my mom beat me for egg. I grew with the mentality that egg was a full chicken. Ladies and gentlemen, a full chicken right now in the market is like 25k.
That time 30 and they flog me egg 13. You see the religious circle we've been born into taught us that don't stretch your hand to what you know feel rich. Yes or yes. They now say cut your coat according to your size my brother I like the oversize. Bring it. Is the oversize I want that quote. The one I'm dragging the one I drag. Bring it. You see it it has been a stigma that builders and developers now build for their community.
Somebody said Oay is a Nigerian company. Where? Recently I was talking to someone that was when the person say ah I said ope is a Chinese company. Ah Op is the same people that own pamph is from opera meaning. They say ah what are you hiring for? Every single one of us in this room we grow up with the mentality even in the churches that just just do just do small just do small just build small. I I used to say something and it is the number of ebo men we have in one shopping mall if they decide today to
build in the global stage some westerners products will not see the light. I tell you, I tell you, but we can't. I mean, we personally grew up with that ability that we can't. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm a 300 level student. Ladies and gentlemen, there are periods where my uncle will call me and say, "Why are you not in school? What are you doing?" I have limited time, but I want to run until we're going to fly. Quick one.
Yeah. The problem. Really guys together. We grow up in an environment where everybody had a limited vision. One. Two. We were taught never to push outside our reach with words like be contented with what you have or jack of all trade, master of none. forgetting that the full quote is jack of all trade, master of none, but often times better than master of one. I'm an illustrator. I'm a digital artist. I did these designs myself. I can draw a human. Before I started being content chef, I used to cook in my
auntie's like kitchen. Yeah. So I can list a couple of things I can do that I don't do anymore but I had to learn how to do them and you know prior to where I had to learn how to do them mind you tell me what I'm first of all I'm an au boy fully from a state yeah so I'm like what are you doing pick one thing and do pick one thing just do one okay the last one this one I want to stick in everybody's brain right we were raised by parents with limited life experience and a broken system that hasn't evolved example the education system.
Oh my god. I was studying the book uh psychology of money and it's crazy what uh what has been done with that piece. So I made a post on Twitter. I bought few books when I was coming in from Abuja and I want to give out those books. So uh quick one you take a picture with me of me post it highlight it I'll send you a book. I'm lover of books trust me. Now on the psychology of money, one piece that got struck to me in simple term, what that book talks about is every single person in this room responds to money differently based on your experience.
If you grew up in a house that your father used to save money, obviously you want to save. If you grew up in a system where they used to invest, obviously you will have that mindset. That is why the rich will keep getting rich and the poor will keep getting poor. It's not about money cuz even if I give you money now you waste it. So first understand it was the parent experience who teach our parents stock where they won't see stock from that know that if you wake up and plant cava it will grow. I mean I was born from a fishing family.
That's what we know. That's what we understand. as I am. Last time I sent my uncle money. Where are you getting money from? Why did you stop? Why are you paying your school fees by yourself? He's trying to understand. I'm trying to explain what blockchain is, but he's not understanding. I've given up first. I will explain later because right now I've given up. They can't. They're telling you go to school. School is the key. Yes, education is right. But is it really the key right now? Think about it. It's crazy.
Come with me. So limited experience. Uh they have limited experience educational system in this country is one of the most messed up things I've ever seen. Trust me when you study outside or you do a program outside you will know that we are joking like we are actually playing here in in this country. We're joking generally. Uh quick one solution one. We need to expand our visions and see the world from a different perspective. Vousu said something. I was studying one of his videos and he said something with he had an interview with uh Lord Mumamba and he said one thing.
He said the only thing worse than slavery the only thing worse than slavery is living under the illusion of freedom. That is what we all live in Africa here. And we are fighting cross blockchain wars. Are you guys okay? If you like earn $10,000 it is bare minimum from where I stand. Bare minimum.
You are fighting cross blockchain wars in a region where you are not even valued. This one say my blockchain is better. This one if you breach me I will deck you. If you if you come close I will deck you. My blockchain is better. My blockchain is the best. My blockchain I would deck you. No, in an ecosystem that everybody is earning bare minimum. I don't know. You know, most times I think we do not actually look at the evaluations. Let's look at it clear pop and plane. As a video guy, let's be sincere with ourselves. to get somebody to even come and touch a camera in your wedding in the west. Do you know how
much it cost? Somebody will price you 15,000 when you reach Nigeria for one video edit. 25K and still be shouting on you on top of 25K. You build a product and it's just for your brother and your two neighbors are there. Oh, and you know the funny thing everybody that builds product is for the African market. It's for the African market. We will build product there and bring it and sell it for the African market. Even the African market itself don't tire. The African market no even sale again. The market is already tired.
First and foremost expanded vision. Can this go global? Yes, it's possible. Do you know that most of the people who built products here in Nigeria? I'm not going to call names actually have western co-founders for those product to go global. Why? I want to fly. Quick one. Yeah. So build globally in public. I think I just had this up here. First of all, I love the base blockchain.
One thing B ecosystem one thing second thing is I relate with all blockchains regardless Solana lakes every single person I have friends in literally all of them we are friends everywhere next thing is you see the reason I highlighted these things here build globally some of us some of us we have 144k followers on Twitter he reach Tik Tok now one you get you reach Instagram now too. You'll be shouting global adoption, global adoption. They have already stand up for me. Glory be to God. Hallelujah. All right. So, last piece uh sorry, please.
Now, quick one here is harnessing the power of the ripple effect. I'm going to be explaining that real quick. First things first, attack opportunities like it is the last day on earth. Any opportunity you see as a black guy, bro, no lose guard. Move to it. What everybody say? Move to it. Move to it. Next one. Time builds wealth faster than hard work. Do you know what the people do to us? Do you know what happens? They give you something to spend your time. They give you peanuts for time. What you have to do to build wealth is try as much as possible to have time. When you have time, you build wealth. Say it together. When you have time, you build wealth. Time is money. Nothing more. The next piece is become a owner, not a consumer. The more you consume, the more
they feed you with peanuts, the more you forget to be the owner. Next thing is cook until you become the recipe. Regardless of what happens or whatever you build, have an element of you that people can never ever leave build of. Right? The last piece uh one bit is one I explained this and I'm done. Sorry. Hence the power of the ripple effect. All right. Everybody look at me quickly illustration. Yeah. If there's a turn in my shirt and I don't patch this turn fast, it will expand. Yeah. I have to patch it fast. Yeah. Now, if there are multiple turns on my t-shirt, right, and I don't patch them over time, this t-shirt goes here. We all agree with that, right? As Africans, try as much as possible to make a change in where you
are. Once you change, you change, you change, you change, you change over time, we would tear outside of where we are right now. All right? And before I actually leave this stage, I want to say one thing and one last thing carefully. Every single African in this room has the ability, the possibility to build in the global stage. Remember these words when you get back home. Build globally.
Build for sustenance. Give value. and money is going to be at your table. Thank you very much. >> Thank you so much. Please, I feel like the club should be more resounding.
