Saalim Aqueel shows how Eventyay’s Social Media Plugin turns conference schedules, speaker details, and ticket information into posts organizers can review and schedule. He explains how the plugin supports direct publishing and CSV export, and how it uses database locks to prevent duplicate posts and checks avatar URLs to block requests to private addresses.

[music] So if you have ever organized a tech conference, you know the pain. Uh you have dozens of accepted talks, multiple speakers, deadlines and multiple ticket tiers and yet every few days one of the team members has to go to the social platforms, multiple social platforms in order to make a post manually and to make a campaign for that particular conference. So today I'll walk you through the event social media plug-in that was my part part of my GSOC work and what it does and how it turns the structure data into schedule multiplatform campaigns and there's some engineering lessons behind it.

So the core issue wasn't the lack of tools but uh the disconnect between them. So event already had like uh all the data related to the CFP speakers sessions and tickets and the schedule and there were multiple platforms multiple social platforms and their APIs and their limits. So what event basically does is that uh it gets all those event live data and turns those data into turns those data into the uh I mean turns those data into the template based posting and then it generates posts and then then save those posts to the DB and after that after that we have like two ways to

deliver those posts. uh if you are using any external scheduling platforms then you can basically export those posts into a CSV format for that particular uh scheduleuler platform and then you can use that in that platform and uh you can just directly go to the native publishing way. So we have currently supporting of the telegram must blue sky x and LinkedIn support on that uh on our platform. So there were some issues while building this platform. So uh the aftar fetching for the speakers is done by the URL. So if someone supplies a cloud metadata address so what we can happen is that the server could leak credentials. So in

order to resolve that we first resolve the DNS and then block the private ranges also and after that the issue was like if two workers can pick up the same post then the there will be two post for one particular event. So in order to resolve that what happens is that uh the role lock is being used in the DB and after that there were some issues with blue sky is that uh what happens is blue sky doesn't you doesn't uh I mean it has like some UTF8 issues so in order to resolve that we have to compute offsets from the encoded text and for the store tokens we use the finet in the platform. So these are the overview of the platform. So what we

have first is the template page in where we have all the configuration for the particular templates and then we have this after saving those we generate all those posts for the particular platform. We have these multiple platforms where the organizer can review it man modify it and change the schedule time and it's just that the schedule a particular scheduleuler will schedule that post and it will get posted on those platforms automatically and there's this publishing page where all those logs are being created and if there's an issue in the post so you can see that here and manually retry those posts as well.

So yeah that's it that's the platform and there is some there are still some issues and which there are next goals which you can come and if you are into open source go to this platform and if you want to add any platform into the social plug-in so maybe you can raise a PR and all the PRs are welcome. Yeah that's it. Thank you.
