eth_multicall and eth_simulate Meetings · 14 Apr 2025 · 2:45
A meeting of the developers working on eth_multicall and its successor eth_simulate, held on 14 April 2025. Client and tooling teams compare implementations and work on the specification for simulating transactions. This meeting covers a client implementation update and the spec for eth_simulateV2.

Hey, how's everyone alive? That's positive. I don't really have updates. There's still some changes that I need to do the spec, but I haven't gotten those done yet. There was the updates for the a couple spec updates, which I I have to do, but I I haven't done those yet. I don't have any. What the updates? Does Cena have any updates? I can see that in crowded place. I don't think I have any updates. Rohit, do you have any updates? Uh, from my side. Uh, no dates. I'll work on the gas limit part of the transaction this week and the nons dynamic nons
calculation. Have you been able to work with the non calculation yet or is that what you're working this week? This week, not yet. What do we do with the gas estimation stuff? Is that's something that we decide not to discuss for a while? I don't know if if we should bring it back back. So how you can estimate gas stuff? That's something that we didn't reach any decisions on. Uh I think I'm going to follow the same as the get did like uh uh the four. Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead. I mean get doesn't have anything because we haven't defined what to do with it.
The point is that you can make transaction that are estimating the gas instead of have some predefined gas limit set basically so that each simulate could function like an it estimate gas and we didn't really decide on what to do with that case. I think we have decided we are going with dynamic gas calculation right but that is not gas estimation that's a different thing. Oh, gas estimation. Um I couldn't follow gas estimation is that where you need to do binary search to estimate what is the gas and then you set the gas limit to that. Basically what what it estimate gas does and at the moment each
simulate cannot do that kind of things without doing multiple queries. Okay. Um I'll see I haven't I mean I'll look at it. what's uh gas estimation for it because uh I haven't been following it. Well, I guess we don't have anything else to discuss. Does anyone else have anything? Um only thing for me is that I'll probably miss the next two meetings because I'll be traveling. If it happens to end up in an at a time when I'm available, I'll try to attend, but don't expect it.
Okay, let's talk next week except with Micah. S.F.F.
