excellent hello everyone how are you welcome to Paris ECC my name is Dennis and Bertram I'm gonna be talking to you today about DAP hero and the rise of no code and low code tools mostly I'll be speaking about that player so I'm gonna get right into it I'm gonna start with a quote from a good friend of mine you don't need to code Honest Abe so I gotta tell you a story to get started the year is 2003 the mission is to sell homemade vanilla scented candles wrapped an artisanal hand pressed paper to a global audience with an online store powered by secure

credit card payment systems integrated shipping tracking and inventory Ton Ton Ton Ton Ton Ton Ton Ton Mission Impossible Y credit card payments hard inventory logistics hard shipping notifications hard information superhighway webmaster website hard fast-forward 20 today 820,000 independent ecommerce sites 40 billion dollars in sales one service is it Amazon you'll be hint

they started out in 2004 selling snowboards Shopify Shopify didn't invent the online store they made it easy for everyone to build an online store they didn't try to solve the problem of what do you sell or which credit card to use they brought existing technologies together and made them accessible to everyone and they gave builders the choice I should build on blockchain I'm sure many of you out here have that

thought have that feeling I would certainly hope so I should build on blockchain the problem blockchain is hard many different technologies each with their own stack terrible user experience changing standards few best practices outdated documentation it's unclear where you go to get help and of course the number one most difficult thing the biggest blocker that stops eight hundred and twenty thousand merchants from building on blockchain is you need to code this is a pie chart of how many coders in the world there are I

don't even need to label those axes right it's obviously the green it takes nearly 200 lines of code just to get started in the web through ecosystem 200 lines you haven't done anything magical by the time you've written those 200 lines either you're just on adding new features is nearly as difficult every new feature you add new stack new SDK new library new documentation new references everything's new you want to add another thing good luck imagine building an online store and you need a new SDK because you want to use a MasterCard and set a visa choice fatigue

all of these tools up here are awesome tools they're powerful they're amazing they make everything happen but you know what choice fatigue if you're a developer and you're starting on your project you have to make a decision right you have to choose what's your stack what is your stack of stacks what does your stack of stack of stacks look like what are you gonna build on choice fatigue so how does it feel if you don't identify as a developer right the truth web 2 has perfected the user experience

they've perfected it they've been working on it for 20 plus years it's not amazing they just simply been at it longer hundreds of millions of users actually billions when you talk about the people who are using the websites but there's hundreds of millions of websites the learnings from this the learnings from no code and low code tools which is what Shopify is is the simpler the tools the easier to build the more things get built no code and low code tools have made the internet we know and love today possible that's just

a fact these things have made the Internet a wacky wonderful place because the barrier to entry to being on the Internet is so low by Squarespace Wix web flow Weebly carbonnade WordPress react this is the hottest front-end technology out there I bet everyone out here if they're building on something is either react or view or maybe spelt if you're really cool how what percentage do you think react occupies of websites out there in the world so I'm gonna shout out a

percentage 1% 2% 0.3% of the Internet so when you look at our technology stack of web 3 if you look at what we're building on when people say we have a library you can use it and react you can use it and react we could have components you can use it in react we're talking about 0.3% of the internet there's fewer react websites than there are people who know how to code word breasts powers your grandparents blog PHP 35% of the internet 450 million websites I know

WordPress is not cool don't hate me WordPress it's not cool none of us are talking about hey I've got a new library for WordPress you're gonna love it right but four hundred and fifty million websites if you create something for web WordPress you can be on a half a billion websites tomorrow no koloko it's a hash tag please use it stands for no code low code but it kind of sounds good when it goes together no cold oak oh so now comes the shield portion gap hero that's what we're working on

it's a single simple tool to connect any blockchain application to your website with little to no code required Kinect blockchain applications tuned on blockchain applications in seconds with no code thanks Abe so how does it work it uses the latest most advanced technology available all you needs HTML HTML so what you do is you paste the script tag you tag your

elements you profit it's that easy I mean it depends on how good your ideas but the point is you have an input tag you say hey that's the input tomalak down you're done it's the input tomalak down it works with web flow glitch JavaScript Squarespace react Drupal PHP Python HTML glitz view WordPress server-side Wix the list goes on anywhere that you generate HTML you can have a DAP right anywhere anywhere no matter how cool the technology non developers don't care right

no one cares how cool the API connection is to some sort of payment processor nobody cares how PayPal makes the money go from your paypal to their PayPal right nobody cares how you log into the website they just want it they're done so they can build whatever they're trying to build users want Shopify right and maybe maybe this audience isn't the right audience right we're developers but we're building for people who we expect to build on what we build and those are the users they want Shopify not Merkle trees another thing that's important to keep in mind is

developer tooling is scary for many people so we're an alpha we released in a couple weeks ago at Eve Denver and we were doing a lot of user interviews one woman that we spoke to she said okay I program in JavaScript I like to do Python tutorials in the weekend I can make solidity smart contracts but I'm not a developer and when people say developer tools she says thinks no this isn't for me and when we go around and we talked to people this is a common sentiment I'm not a developer developers are something special those are experts these are that's not me but these are people who know how to

code these are certainly people who know how to use a script tag these are certainly people who know a content management system right but these people when we say 1 million devs a billion users walk out the room and the developers are building the future but we have to build it for someone other than ourselves we believe you should spend time building your thing not the thing you think you need to build for the thing you're trying to build needs in order to get built and if you're building on web 3 I think you'll probably feel something when I say that sentence because every time I've tried to build something on web 3 first I have

to build the thing I need to build in order to build the thing that I'm trying to build and that is a huge barrier to entry imagine if every online store had to build a connection to MasterCard and then they wanted visa and now they have to go out and build a connection to visa and now they want American Express and you know what it's a whole new SDK and they have to go out and build a connection that American Express what would that look like 2003 people don't build online stores they don't sell stuff unless there are enormous corporations the technology existed in 2003 but the ease of use being able to build on it did not 1 million developers is good but

2 billion users is great so how am i doing on time yeah you guys won a live demo do you want a live demo that's right okay I'm probably gonna totally screw it up so take a take a picture that quickly I'm gonna show you really quickly our integration with web flow we work with anywhere you generate HTML right all you need to do is you had a script tag you tagged your elements you're done so we've started by

supporting two main platforms glitch and web flow we give a low code experience with glitch if you know it it's very friendly interface to start playing around and instantly have an app glitch is awesome right here here that glitch call me back huh web flow no code tool that enterprises and users are like build beautiful websites web so I'm going to show you this in web flow really quickly I've already created this template and this is a template that's freely cloneable because we believe that our users their first experience with the app hero should be success so they start with something that's already working not have to start from scratch and in this what we're doing is we're saving a

string to the blockchain and we're reading it back simple now it's already a little bit set up so maybe it's a little bit cheating but I'll show you how it works first we have a button called the connect button I'll try and zoom in a little bit that's as far as I can go over here go on the gear icon we give it a custom attribute first one it's a network feature the second one is it's an enable button that button is going to connect us to web 3 down here we have a field we give it a method ID of zero I'll say why in a second and then we say the property outputs what that's being connected to is this div which would normally be invisible but

it's visible here for demonstration purposes what we do is you label the feature custom contract that's a smart contract on aetherium contract name is public message that's the name of our smart contract inside the gap here our project we have a method name called retrieve that's my function in my solidity code it's called retrieve returns the value of a public variable method ID 0 I mentioned that I'd say that what that was this links any other element on my page to my method so we can create a method ID an instance here and any other element on the page is now connected to that solidity method on chain and then we do Auto invoke here that means as

soon as the page loads tap hero goes out grabs the information from the blockchain populates the site same thing down here we have a method instance here it's cost some contract contract name is public message method name is store storing a variable on the blockchain method ID is one because this is a different method we're linking that to this input field method ID 0 1 and the input name is message that's the argument that that function on the blockchain takes and then we have a submit button which is the same thing we have a method ID we invoke it that means we send a transaction in this case and then we have a little text span

here again we link it method ID 1 outputs true then we go up here and we click this button publish cuz webflow also hosts so you don't have to worry about running this yourself now we go over to our publishers website we wake it up here's our website beautiful right it's a template I just grabbed it from the template store originally easy to make first we connect to the blockchain this button is now tap your enabled click to enable meta mask click connect now I'm connected current message should populate in a second

are you crazy a live demo that's directly from the blockchain now if I want to add a message to it yes click Submit my mouse comes up transaction is started wait for a second it's on the cove on network live demo right let's let it confirm already confirm there you go yes it worked now what I did right now is doesn't seem so

impressive but if you think about building this in react I just built a dapple in this case I demonstrated how I built the dap all it took was adding attributes to my HTML element and i built a real dap connected to the etherion blockchain in real time demo 2 in front of you it didn't break in what was that a minute right ok if I start from scratch maybe it be two minutes I've never built a DAP or an application on aetherium from scratch or even with other tools that quickly and that's the kind of reduction in friction that we think is important to get those 2 billion users on etherium right that's the type of reduction in friction we think Hey

450 million websites you should be using aetherium too we've abstracted away the necessity to deal with which credit cards you're going to use or what sdk is necessary we've abstracted the way the process of trying to figure out how you connect to the blockchain we've strapped it away the issue of like is it a big number is it an integer and how are we going to convert from bytes 32 because you know at the end of the day nan devs don't care they don't care about any of this they just want to be able to build something and we believe if we can make it easier to build people will build but we have to make it easier so I'm Dennison Bertram my co-founder Drake

Evans in the crowd we're from dap hero if you have any questions i don't know if we have time no time that's it we're here all week ask us questions goodbye and thank you paris [Applause]
