Sean Bowe
Sean Bowe is a cryptographer and engineer best known for shaping the cryptography behind Zcash. During his years at the Electric Coin Company he authored much of the protocol's core cryptography, including the Sapling upgrade, and in 2019 he discovered Halo, the first practical technique for recursive zero-knowledge proof composition without a trusted setup, later refined into the widely used Halo 2 system. Halo's influence extends well beyond Zcash: the Ethereum Foundation's zero-knowledge EVM work and numerous zk projects build on it. He now leads Tachyon, a project focused on scaling Zcash toward billions of users through oblivious synchronization.
