Philip Daian
Philip Daian is a PhD candidate at Cornell Tech and a steward at Flashbots, the Ethereum research and infrastructure organization built around miner extractable value (MEV). He is the lead author of "Flash Boys 2.0," a 2019 paper that introduced the term MEV and documented how transaction ordering on decentralized exchanges creates frontrunning and consensus risks. His research is also affiliated with IC3, the Cornell-based Initiative for CryptoCurrencies and Contracts. His Devcon Southeast Asia talk addresses centralization pressures in block building tied to MEV, covering proposals such as trusted execution environments and geographically diverse, permissionless designs meant to preserve proof-of-stake guarantees.
