Olaf Carlson-Wee
Olaf Carlson-Wee is the founder and CEO of Polychain Capital, one of the earliest and largest crypto-native investment firms, which he started in 2016. He was Coinbase's first employee, joining in 2013 after sending his Vassar College thesis on Bitcoin to the founders and offering to do any job, and went on to serve as Head of Risk there, building out early operations and fraud prevention. Polychain attracted backing from heavyweight firms including Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia, Union Square Ventures, and Founders Fund, and became known for early positions in projects like MakerDAO, dYdX, and StarkWare. A Bitcoin holder since 2011, he is known for an unwaveringly long-term thesis on crypto as a fundamental shift in how capital is organized.
