Hayden Adams

Hayden Adams is the founder and CEO of Uniswap Labs and the inventor of the Uniswap protocol, the decentralized exchange that popularized the automated market maker model and became foundational infrastructure for Ethereum DeFi. A mechanical engineer by training (Stony Brook University, then Siemens), he was laid off in 2017 and taught himself Solidity after a friend sent him a Vitalik Buterin post about onchain market makers, building the first version of Uniswap with an Ethereum Foundation grant. Launched in November 2018, Uniswap went on to ignite the 2020 DeFi summer, has processed trillions of dollars in trading volume, and has evolved through V2, V3, and V4 alongside the UNI governance token and, most recently, Unichain, Uniswap's own DeFi-focused Layer 2. He remains one of the most principled and closely watched builders in the Ethereum ecosystem.
