David Tse
David Tse is the Thomas Kailath and Guanghan Xu Professor of Engineering at Stanford University and the founder of Babylon, a protocol that lets Bitcoin be staked or used as collateral on other blockchain networks without a custodian. He built his earlier career in information theory, developing the proportional fair scheduling algorithm used in cellular wireless networks, work that earned him the 2017 Claude E. Shannon Award, one of the field's highest distinctions, and election to the National Academy of Engineering in 2018. He came to blockchain research around 2018 after encountering the Bitcoin whitepaper, unveiling Babylon's vision in a 2022 litepaper. His talk at Pragma Buenos Aires, tagged in the archive under yield and vaults, covers making Bitcoin productive for Ethereum through trustless vaults, an extension of the collateral work he has pursued at Babylon.
