Dan Finlay
Dan Finlay is the co-founder of MetaMask, the self-custodial Ethereum wallet he created with Aaron Davis in 2016 under Consensys after leaving a software engineering role at Apple. What began as a browser extension became the default gateway to Ethereum and web3 for tens of millions of monthly users, and Finlay led much of its evolution, including the MetaMask Snaps system that lets third-party developers extend the wallet and the Advanced Permissions work behind ERC-7715. In April 2026 he announced his departure from Consensys after more than a decade, citing burnout and plans to spend time with family.
