Charles Hoskinson

Charles Hoskinson is the founder of Cardano and a co-founder of Ethereum, two of the most prominent smart contract platforms in crypto. A Colorado-based mathematician by training, he joined the Ethereum project in late 2013 as one of its original founders and briefly served as its chief executive before leaving in 2014 over a dispute about whether the project should be run as a commercial venture or a nonprofit. Later that year he co-founded IOHK (now Input Output Global) with Jeremy Wood, an engineering and research company whose flagship project is Cardano, the proof-of-stake blockchain behind the ADA cryptocurrency. He has since championed peer-reviewed blockchain research through university partnerships, funded the Hoskinson Center for Formal Mathematics at Carnegie Mellon, and more recently founded Midnight, a privacy-focused blockchain project.
