Avalanche
A layer-1 smart-contract blockchain platform whose public network launched in September 2020 and supports Avalanche L1s, configurable blockchains with their own validators and fee structures. Ava Labs, founded in 2018 by Cornell computer scientist Emin Gün Sirer and two PhD candidates, develops the core infrastructure, and the Avalanche Foundation supports the ecosystem.
